i work as a mechanic in an indepenant garage.we see all sorts subaru, mitsubishi, ferrari porsche and bentley.all i can say is get a garage you trust,we always test drive cars it would be a sh~t service if we didnt, but we treat them with respect.we always use the correct oil and always change all parts.not all garages are cr~p but i do agree i have seen some real horrors coming from garages.fin a good one and stick to it.trading standards often do spot checks on garages hopefully catching some out.we had a car in for service recently it turned up late and the owner demanded it back in 2 hours fair enough.anyway we notice by ipping the oil its golden new,oil filter was new air filter an timing belt.we asked the owner why she wanted a service and she said she had just bought the car.we said we havent serviced it its just been done you would be wasting your money.she then says she is trading standards and has just had the car serviced, she was please we noticed however we should have serviced the car anyway she says cos that was what the customer ha asked for.so there you go trading standards thing you should all be conned.
anyway sorry about the rant i just hate being tarred with the same brush as other garages i take pride in my work and treat every car with respect no matter how old or what make.

I always do that when i take my car for service as i dont trust garage i take my car for service as heard bad things bout them....

Reckon everyone should note the tacho regardless
But surely it is part of the service to take your car for a spin up the road to test aspects of it performance? Well it was when I took mine in anyway.

Sadly there is no way of knowing whether it was being driven by Mrs Goggins or whether some young chav was ragging the **** out of it!

Ye i agree with you...They do need to take the car to make sure everything is ok but when its a spotty little **** whom would never be able to own a evo let alone insure one it does get my back up....

Hence why i make a 70 mile round trip up to my SECOND nearest dealership!!!! :)
