sorry for being thick, but I have been saving up to buy myself a fast car so that I can burn off my mate in his XR2i. I have heard that evo's are faster. is this true? his XR2 is really cool. sounds superb with a peco backbox.

I would like some advice on where to go for the best deals. obviously i cant afford a new one whats the cheapest i could get one for?

I'm assuming this is serious and not a p*** take (which it must be http://www.lancerregister.com/graphics/tonguewink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >)
Your mate in his XR2i won't be able to keep up with any Evo ranging from the original GSR up to the current Evo7.
As for where to get them from, there are various options depending on what you've got to spend and whether or not you want a grey import or a Ralliart import.
How much are you looking to pay out for one? There is an Evo1 (I think or it might be an original GSR) for sale from Ralliart in Dudley for £8,995 or you can go for a Evo VI Extreme from Ralliart for £30-35k so it depends on how much you have.

Hope that helps

If its a fast car you want then buy a lawnmower and put a rolls royce engine on it.

The best cars in history are NEVER the fastest because they have real priorities at the top of the agenda like feel, feedback, suspension, handling, adjustability, soundtrack, ride quality..... priorities that make them real drivers cars. Having said that, a 280bhp EVO will probably feel like a freakin bullet to you both in a staright line and in an AtoB scenario .. given that your reference point is a Ford XR2i.

Good luck and try not too kill yourself.

Just checked the Ralliart website (ralliartuk.com) and there is a white Evo1 GSR for sale at £8,995 with 39,000 miles on the clock.

An Evo is not particularly fast when you accelerate, but the roadholding is very good, making it quite fast on a twisty road. I dont know of any car built by Ford that could keep up with it. But keep in mind it is a 1,3 ton 4 door saloon car with a 4 cyl engine.

looks like the mlr has caught the dreaded scoobynet disease of mickey takers and bull talkers.

webmaster: you may very soon need a muppet forum and a rs owners forum too. :(

its a wonder this hadnt happened a long time ago. there are a lot of muppets out there. :(

Jon, you're quite lucky in having only joined recently, we did have a bit of a muppet epidemic a while back - that's why you have to log in to post now.

Next step: Membership approval!

evo 1 at 9grand is well overpriced.

get a Sierra 2.0 GLSi. put some 3 tonne 17 wheels on it with Kwik Fit own brand rubber, a nice Ford sticker on the back window and a bean can nailed to the exhaust (remember to remove the label for that stainless steel look) and you should see off the Xr2, and the evo.

regards

Chunky mate, ive been lurking around for the last year or so but never got around to registering. I imagine there are a lot of people who do that.

Anyway, its very strange that there arent more people out to cause trouble and waste your time as the login process doesnt stop the bad people on scoobynet. I used to be a member of the Renault 5 Turbo owners club and they were the worst ever. There werent any constructive and helpful comments posted. It was just a constant barage of slagging ( my cars faster than your car ) and tuning company fights.

However, the muppet forum and rs owners seperate sections has seemed to have stopped it on scoobynet. ( for the meantime ) :)

Lets hope us evo owners are a little bit more sensible and dont rise to the bait if or when they come back.
