Introducing another one of my dream cars.
After trying to purchase this JDM Tommi Makinen Edition Evo VI from the previous owner for over 1 year, he finally sold it to me last Sunday, February 4th, 2018. I was very excited to finally drive it home.

I took it to have a roadworthy inspection the following day as I only had a 1 week registration permit. It passed inspection fine and it was soon registered in my name. I transferred the "JDM" plates from my daily to this new project.

Here is a photo after I screwed on the new plates, outside the DMV.

The car is completely stock apart from a 3" turbo back stainless exhaust, a boost gauge and a dash mounted "LED Shift Light". The car does need some tidying up, detailing and servicing but it is very clean and rust free. "Tommi" was complied in Australia 04/2008 so its been on salt free roads in Australia for the past 10 years where it was always garaged and has only travelled 33,000kms or 20,500 miles. The car dealership decal on the rear bar shows it was originally sold by Mitsubishi only 27km from the centre of downtown Tokyo at this dealer http://www.urawa-higashi-mitsubishi-motor-sales.com which is probably why there is no rust under the car, as it was not near the snow. From the clutch pedal feel it tells me the clutch has been replaced with a firmer aftermarket clutch and there are spanner marks on the bell housing bolts which reinforces my thoughts.

I have purchased a set of Timing Belt assistance tools from STM Tuned Inc and I've ordered all the timing belt pulleys, bolts, belts, seals, water pump etc from Japan. The engine sounds very good and has done approx 92,000Kms or 57,000 miles verified through the "Japan ODO Check" service. The car was complied in Australia in 04/2008 almost 10 years ago and garaged in Canberra the past 5 years.

If anyone reading this thread has access to the "Lancer Evolution 6 TME Workshop Manual Supplement" Part number (i think) : S9806CNCP9-B Please message me*or msg me on Instagram :) happy to pay :)

But while waiting for that important stuff to arrive I have collected a few parts to install on the car and I'll continue on another few jobs that need to be done.

All vehicles in Japan are require to carry a safety flare but it is removed before transporting the cars to Australia or when going thru the compliance process in Australia. I'm not sure which. So I had to replace it with the deluxe model safety flare which also has a window smashing spike on its base.

Flare with cover:

Open and ready for action!

Looks very nice, and well done on the purchase (shows perseverance works!) :smthumbup

Not sure if you're willing to share the purchase price on here but just wondered if these red Tommi's prices have gone sky high over in Oz like they have over here these past few years..?

I also just came back from a month in Perth and have to say I was disappointed in the lack of Evo's I saw in all that time; 3 in total (a VIII, VII and a V). A few Ralliarts though and plenty of normal Lancers trying to look like the X though! :wallbang:

Enjoy the car!

I *love* that you bothered to look that up

I'm excited about where this project may lead. Probably more than your wagon TBH.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Much appreciated. Thanks for having me.

Lovely Tommi mate :) Workshop manuals here

Thanks Mita, I have those ones, but I believe there is a supplement manual specifically for the TME variant???

Hi andy just love your TME looks super cool 😎 love the idea of the flare hope she gives you many years of pleasure and loving those plates :smthumbup
Cheers Leo. Where I live you there's no annual payments on these custom plates. You pay once and you own them.

... just wondered if these red Tommi's prices have gone sky high over in Oz like they have over here these past few years..?.... Enjoy the car!
I don't want to be specific about the price I paid but it did cost a lot. Red Tommi prices have gone crazy over the last few years in Australia and Japan. However you very rarely see them for sale apart from fresh ones being imported from Japan specifically for a customer. Red ones are advertised for 2 to 4 times the price or other colours. There is an Australian delivered black TME for sale ATM at a dealer for 43,000 GB Pounds and it was 45,000 GBP a few weeks ago.
There are R34 GT-R often listed for 124,000 GBP.

There's lots of Evos in Sydney and the east coast of Australia especially Evo 7,8,9. The Evo 5, 6 & 10 are rarer in my opinion.

Lovely looking TME :smthumbup:coolsm: Your have to post up some more photos ;):D....
Thanks Squeaky, I definitely will be posting many more photos.

Hello and welcome Andy, looks a great example, keep the updates coming enjoy :smthumbup
Thanks very much @M3 Rob and @Cardsharky. I love taking photos and this colour really pops. It should be much easier to photograph compared to my black wagon.

Looks great man......nice condition. There is a FB page called CP9A owners Australia that you might find helpful with other people in ACT with TMEs.
Thanks Hank. You have quite a car collection. I've recently been added to that FB group. I do use FB but I really like forums too as I love to read about other people cars and document my cars development. Some people's builds can be really inspirational and its great to see what Evo fans in other parts of the world are doing. There's not much action on the Australian Evo forum so I'm looking for a new home :)

And as a reward for getting through this long post I'll share the little change I made to the car last night…

I had this Ralliart panel filter sitting on my shelf which I had used briefly in my Evo IX and thought I would try it out in the TME. It fits and blings up the engine bay with a little Ralliart goodness. Not sure if it's filtration ability is as good as a K&N or paper filter.

Thanks for reading, more updates soon.
