Well finally the day has come. My last day on the board, being able to post.

Thanks to the following.
Shorty for introducing me to roundabouts and also taking me on a meet late last year. I would love to do it again and this time will help out with some gas money. I was so excited last time I completly forgot to offer, sorry.
Darin for the magazines.
Mark, Pondy, T27 (sorry forgot your name) No it's back Kevin, Si, Umreet, Steve, (top man from comming from Newquay for the day) for giving me some good info at that meet.
HH6 for the smashing picture of your car on the drive in front of the double garage. The polish job is so good in that picture that you can see areally detailed reflection of a tree in it. It is my desktop wallpaper at work and at home and serves a purpose a bit like those weight watchers who have pictures of themselves really skinny as an incentive. I WILL HAVE AN EVO. Colin I really need the 5-7 faq now as I cannot post.

I still do not have enough for my deposit and so cannot fully appreciate paying for a subscription whilst I do not have a car. Although that may change after a few weeks of not being able to post.

Yes I will still be reading the forrum, but probably posting on lancer forums untill I get a car and then membership.

So finally as I said to Darin via e-mail a few weeks ago.

The site changes. I know you are getting loads of correspondence on this, but if I understand right, write access will be denied to non MLR members. Is that correct? If so I don't fully agree with this as I know there are quite a few non Mitsi members that contribue and teenagers, who have no hope of funding to join the club, or are unable to use the club benefits. In short I would strongly like to see the forum remain open, but for the good part. I am willing to put my money where my mouth is. As I actively read the forum most days of the week and post regularly I will put a £10 donation in the post to cover for a years write access if you want to do this.
I have already mentioned this, but I am also happy to come and work at the Rally Car day. And also the Shootout on 16Mar. All I would ask in return for this is some time off during the day to see some of the action.

Let me know about the mag and also if the donation is a goer and I will put it in the post.

Cheers
Lee

Darin I have had the mag thanks. IF the subscriptions were tweaked slightly I would deffinitly get a mag and forum subscription here and now.

The offer still stands on the 2 events. I feel it is the best way to get to know people and gain vauable first hand information.

Thanks to all for listening. As Arnie said I'll be back

Drive fast! Drive Safe!

Cheers
Lee

And from me...

My US visa has arrived, and my VI is being serviced on Monday - I'll sell it to a dealer sometime next week, so it's a good time.

The US has the normal Lancer, and my God is it ugly - the Evo VII is much much prettier.

Chris (off to buy some Yank V8 convertible tank, for us in San Diego)

Wow this is sad stuff.

No offence but it's only £25 for a years MLR membership which lets face it ain't a lot. I'll say again, no offence but I can;t understand how anyone interested in these cars would begrudge paying it - whether they own one of not. Hell, I pay Lotus £30 a year to be a member of there club and it's two years since I last owned one of their cars. Come on man, pay up and show some support.

I don't really have a problem with paying £25 although I haven't yet.

I'm waiting to see what will happen with write access disabled for non-members.

Cheers,

Phil

£25 may just be the price of a tank of SUL but charging for write access is against the spirit of the internet. I'm off (and I never got past newbie status :D) but I will be the first to take out a banner ad should the chance arise.

OK guys, every on is entitled to their own opinion etc, etc.

Myself, 25 quid in the post today. Yeah, 25 quid is 25 quid, but this forum costs money to run as do the events. I might be a newbie, but I am going to support this forum and it has got my vote.

hope others feel this way and if all goes dead then I will see you guys on the other forums but lets keep it going.

Cheers,

Lee,

You'll be back! ;)

If you want a ride to the New Forest meet, give me a mail, you can be passenger if you like (or even drive then i can have a beer or three)!

Evo6rs,

This forum will not 'go dead'! This will still be the daddy of Lancer stuff, after all it is the 'club' website, not just an internet forum, something which seems to have been overlooked by some!!

No beef with that, I just worry that the forum will wither if you have to pay to post and it's a major part of it for me.

I've only had my Evo a couple of weeks so I'm fairly new to this forum but I'm still active on the BBS's for my old cars (Supra/Scooby) and I've never come across a forum that charged for write access.

Cheers,

Phil

I think that some people are looking at this the wrong way. THERE IS NO CHARGE TO POST!

Posting is for members of the MLR. This forum is, as the name suggests, is the MLR forum. The MLR is more than just this board, and sugesting that it is a charge to post is belittling the MLR and the people who give their time and efforts, free, to make it happen. There are many forums that are closed to non members. And as for charging being against the spirit of the internet, that is nieve at best. More and more services over the net are being charged for, while the single largest use of the internet, porn, is always charged for.:D It will become more common and it is time for people to start realising that, unfortunately. (flame suit on) Climbs off soapbox :D

Simon7,

That's what I said, less eloquently, admittedly!

I know several porn sites that don't charge, email me if you want the url!! ;)

To simon7extreme and pond,

Sorry guys maybe I didn't express myself clearly enough. What I meant to say was I support the club and the forum, otherwise why would have I sent the 25 quid.

I want to attend the regional meets, National Day etc.

I was trying to say, I have just got my EVO, and I am really impressed with this forum and want to join the MLR club. I read alot on here and try to post as often as I can come up with a sensible question. (Not V much).

I am willing to offer my suport and time to orginisation of events etc, if needed, but if you don't want it then hey ho!!!

Cheers,

EVO6RSS.

Nieve? AFAIK the net evolved from a desire to share information not make £'s. Seems that that's just the way it's going.....Shame.

You gotta tell me where you're buying your petrol! £25 a tank! ;)

You're correct, but the MLR is much more than just a website and as far as I know, doesn't make any money at all - it is all ploughed back into the club. It is a sad trend but many of the things we have for so long taken for granted as 'free' on the internet are now starting to be charged for, BBSs are no exception.

I'm not in favour of the write-restrictions in the manner originally intended, but Darin's recent post hints that there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
