Yes they should, but you will have to fiddle around a bit with the fitting lugs as the EVO speaker holes don't quite line up with speakers of this size. They're components also which means you'll have to find a seperate location for the tweeter units both front and back which can be a bit fiddly to make look professional as well.

Must admit I'm talking from experience of the VII and am assuming there are no extra provisions for speakers on the VIII in terms of tweeters. From my experience of the VII, I'd be looking at fitting some good quality coaxial 16.5 or 17 cm speakers personally. Something like Infinity or some of the high end Kenwoods?

Sort of depends what else you're doing in terms of head unit, amplification etc. If you just want a straightforward install with head unit and some good speakers I'd be inclined to go with a coaxial speaker solution.

Thanks Brian.

I've got an Alpine 9833r with the ipod link.

I'm only looking for a speaker setup just now, I'm not (yet) interested in getting an amp or a sub. Just looking for a decent set of 4 speakers and using the admittedly poor speaker cable that's on the car.

Cheers.

Well, I'm still using the original cables and yes they are small but that said I get reasonable sound quality, 6.5inch speakers can give quite a good response in those door and parcel shelf positions IMHO (the only thing with the parcel shelf positions on the VII anyway is the boot lid hinge gear which can limit the depth of speaker you can fit there). The only other thing I did was fit dynaxorb pads behind the door speakers as those alloy panels vibrate like crazy. It's not a competition install or anything :D but I've not got the energy for all that these days. I'm sure there are others on here who are more serious about their ICE installs who would say do the cables, fit component speakers and fit amplifiers, it's down to what you want.

On the mounting issue, I knocked up some little clips made from some metal strip I bought from B and Q - might be worth thinking about if you can't seem to get enough of the holes to line up with the lugs. I don't think they've changed the arrangement from the VII and on that they don't naturally line up with any off-the-shelf aftermarket speakers in 16.5 or 17 cm sizes that I could find.

They were a bit like this (sorry for the crude drawing, best I can do at the minute). You can get strips of angle alloy or strip steel in B&Q. Just 4 like this to hold the flange of the speaker in place rather than trying to line up holes which don't if you see what I mean. I don't know that tey haven't changed the arrangement with the VIII of course or there might be a mounting ring you could buy from Mitsubishi? Anyway it worked for me.
