Has anyone done this on an early Evo 1-3?

I'm looking to know what coolant to use? R134? My only experience with air conditioning has been ripping it's heavy components from my car's bowels. (I think I'm getting old)


Any tips appreciated.

...best to check the seals/bearing prior to re-gas...

Thanks XLR8 How would I go about testing the seals first? I thought about that. It would be a waste of a refresh kit for sure.

One more question on this guys.. is it actually R12 that's in there now or is it R134? Some websites say that the conversion was done from R12 refridgerant to R134 in 1994 so it seems that the EII is somewhere in the middle of the industry changeover. I just want to confirm before I order a kit.

the type of gas used is on a label on the side of compressor
you can get kits on ebay for retro fitting r134 to r12 systems
