In the hot weather we've been having, my air con doesn't seem to be up to the job.

It used to make icicles on the sunvisors last year but now the air it blows (even when turned down to 17o) doesn't seem much cooler than the outside.

Any ideas ?

Probably needs a re-gas, that will normaly sort it out. Had mind done by a mate who does refrigeration now it snows in the car if you turn it down!!!

Have you been using it regularly during the winter? Daft question I know, but unless the compressor is run regularly the seals can get fubar'ed.

The first winter I had my car I turned it off, thinking why whould I need to run it in a Scottish winter?

The air con system should be switched on every
fortnight to prevent it faulting through lack of
For info only, air-con can be used to clearup
frosted or misted windows/screens on a cold
or rainy day. It is a fantastic tool for this and
prevents steamed upped windows on a rainy day, which
I hate when I see it on other vehicles. It is fast
and effective an prevents you from smearing the screen
with a cloth or shammy!! border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
So it is a system to be used nearly all year round
and not just to cool you down on a hot day!!

F***ed up beyond any repair ? - nah !

In the worst scenario, what's required in terms of cash money at a Mitsu garage ?

Somewhere in the £7-900 range border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >

For that, I can live without it.

Aye, I'll just have to remember to take my string vest off before I get in the car on a hot day

Settle down boy`s

The price for a service on your A/C should be £120 |PLS| vat approx subject to area etc.
[ this should cover a full health check and amp; top up to correct charge level ]

If any major faults are found ie U/S compressor, broken pipe / total loss of charge these would be quoted for extra but there`s nothing which should cost more than £500 to fix !!

If you carn`t get a reasonable quote i suggest you talk to Nick , one of my fridge engineers who`s always at MLR trackday`s and amp; twist his arm to have a look. border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle >
