Having a few issues with agreed value on my Evo, with my GT Turbo all I had to do is provide many pictures and details and there was a team that said yes or no.

With my current provider (not naming just yet) I require a independent evaluation from a garage. Anyone else had this?

Surely if I go to a Mitsubishi garage they will work on book value which is a pointless excercise...

An import specialist such as Torque GT or DCY may be able to do something
Yes that's a possibility however I don't want to be driving the car half way around the country just to satisfy my current insurer.

I had to show the pics, the receipts of all the work i had had done and so on with mine, which were all legit, i have been thinking i probably should have added another 10k on it to be honest!

Who are you insured with Jason?

When I was with Adrian flux that is exactly what I had to do.

If you email the importers pictures (front, back, left, right, interior, engine bay) with the latest MOT they may do a letter/report saying that car, in that condition, with that mileage is worth 'x' amount.... which the insurers will hopefully accept.

As a side note, agreed value policies aren't always the best with Evo's, as the price in 4-5 months time could be a lot higher than you agreed with the insurers.
You may better off with a policy that follows the market, if you are confident the price will hold or increase.

I personally have an agreed value policy, but seeing the price of fresh imports has made me increase my value by £2k.... although i was in a fortunate position that i didn't have to pay an admin fee.

When I was insured previously with Adrian Flux (V6 Clio phase 2) and it came to renew my policy, Adrian Flux said that they would not insure for the price increase as i`d not made any improvements on the car. When I explained that I managed to buy the v6 for a very good price and the price I was requesting was reflecting market value they refused the valuation.
Strange that some/most insurance companies are interested in market value when values go down.
With Pace Ward now and happy so far.
Incidentally, I sold the v6 for more than I was requesting the agreed value to be for and that was After the dealer took his cut!
Adrian Flux said they were unhappy that I would gain more money than I payed for the car in the event of a payout.
So the term appreciating classic is unheard of with some insurance companies?!

Think the fear is over-valuing cars, making it tempting to 'lose' the car. I can see why an insurer would want a professional valuation, as they cant value each and every car.

Im actually in the same position with a farm vehicle, i got cheaper as I bought from family, then spent several thousand on it. I asked my insurer to up the value, as the s/hand market has boomed after the drop in the pound and I had spent so much, but they refused to do an agreed value, just something they dont offer for that reason above. Instead I had to take lots of detailed photos, and keep a record of all money spent on it. Even then that was to justify my increasing the value, but wouldnt budge to give me an agreed value

My insurance is due next week and I'm going through this exact same process with a well known provider on here (about having an agreed value assigned to my 9).

They however, have only stated that I'd need to complete an agreed value form and take 6 colour photos, nothing about getting it independently valued.

I'm going down this route this time as I've spent quite a bit on mods and extra work which never gets added onto the value of the car, plus it can be difficult to prove what "similar" cars might be worth (there's never one exactly the same), so am insuring it for a figure I'd be relatively happy with if anything ever unfortunately was going to happen....

If I ever saw prices go red TME crazy-like then I might think about increasing it or just going with market values...we'll see...

Yes quite common now for a specialist valuation

Will be like RS soon where certain members of the RS owners club can do it

Sounds like we could both be with the same broker.

There 1st question, is it a red mak to which I politely replied, no it's rare not common :mhihi:

I wanted an agreed value policy but when i asked about it i was advised against it by the broker for this reason. The price of red TME's is rising so quickly i would be out of pocket within a few months so best bet was to insure with a good company with a history of making realistic payouts should the need arise.
