Hi Guys,

Guess what, Admiral Have struck again. I have been Having a bit of a battle with them for the last week and have now cancelled.

They quoted me 2.5K for 12months. Now that isn't bad considering I am 26, No NCD, and 7 Points. Speed cameras, got to hate them!!! (All motorway points mind you, 30mph is there for a reason!!)

Anyway, I told the 16yr old on the phone, all convictions, dates, points etc. Got the quote, bought the car. hey it's only 20K commitment after all!!

Prop comes through and it's wrong, too late now cars on the drive. so amend it and send it back with all the docs.

Ring up a couple of days later and check they have everything, speak to said 16yr old again. All is fine! No extra premium. Great I think.

Hey ho, wife rings me 2 days later at work and says they have sent you a letter saying that you owe them another 2.5K.

Speak to supervisors, manager's and underwriters and I am told, Quote We don't want to insure this type of car, or the people who drive them, they are too high risk, we don't need your business. Pay the extra or cancel. Reason it seems doesn't apply to insurance companies! 2.5 K for 1 point, 100% loading. F**king joke!!!!

I have spoken to Ian at the MLR brokers (forget the name they do the MLR 10% discount) and they can do me a deal but it is still 4.5K.

Guess it is just the perks of EVO ownership, can't feel hard done buy though.

Warning to all, stay well away from Admiral, I know the quote was wrong, but it was there mistake not mine.

Cheers,

EVO6RSS.

Ouch, I've got to feel for you on this. Hardluck, but enjoy the car and watch out for the camera's. Can't see why the 1st quote didn't stand if you had provided all the correct info though? I guess that's why it's called a quote I suppose :(

i'm moving across to the MLR recommended Tett Hamilton Brokers(Ian)-Club insurance - base insurers Norwich Union.

They gave me a good quote £1400 with a few mods (Apexi induction, Nur exhaust) and i'm told i'll drop by 40% next year (first performance car-35y, 7NCD and 3 speeding points).

I'm in the middle of cancelling my present insurance...they said no chance with any mods! (insureyourmotor.com-hyperperfomance)....base insurers were AXA...they weren't bad ..just would not insure with mods.

Stud,

AXA do insure mods, but it depends on which broker (and which deal they have struck) you use. A-Plan added my NUR and Blitz Induction kit for a measley £90.00!! And yes, it's with AXA in case you hadn't guessed!

Oh yeah... Not only do you have a black E4, but know you've got a NUR on it as well? Grrrrrr.... There's gonna be a showdown soon...

6RSS,

I've had bad experience with Admiral as well. Had an insurance policy with them, it was up in a few weeks, asked them what it would be for the E6GSR at my renewal date. Gave all details VERY precisely and they quoted £1400. Bought the car and put it on my existing policy with them (for its last few days), then got the 12 month renewal... £2700. (EXACTLY the same car; I knew the reg when I got the initial quote).

Taking the p***. Now, of course it was a few weeks later that I had to actually buy the full 12 months, and they can legally change a quote as much as they darn well like in the meantime, but I specifically said that I needed to know the insurance they would charge me in a few weeks for 12 whole months, as I had not yet bought the car and wanted to know if I could afford to insure it. So, not illegal practice on their part in my case, and certainly not as infuriating as your dreadful experience with them, but it points to wholly unprofessional sharp practice on Admiral's part.

I called Admiral today funnily enough (before I knew about this thread) for a quote on an EVO6 TME. They were unable to provide a quote saying they couldn't cover that car.

This is going to sound crazy, but Tesco (0845 3004400 or www.tesco.com) were v. cheap to insure my E6, 960 quid F.C. Got the name from a guy who was selling an Evo that I didn't buy. Their service has been excellent, allowing me to reduce my premium whilst I'm out of the country. I am old (33), and full NCD but even so it's cheap.

Have you not tried Adrian flux? They specialise in performance cars, think mine was £940 last year when I took it out, I was 26 with 7 years NCD
