Hi guys,

Did a search and didn't really find any straight answers so I thought I'd ask here.

I've just bought my first ever Evo it's a Evo 9 FQ340 running 405bhp now I'm looking towards changing the brakes and pads it's a daily driver so I don't want anything to harsh or noisey for the road although I'll do the odd track day so just be pretty responsive any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Carbotech XP8's are what a lot of people on here use. Good pad for a mixture of road and track.

Downside is that they can squeal sometimes and they do produce a bit of dust but if you can live with that then the performance is very good.

Speak to thetyrant (Ian) on here for a good deal.

Xp8 all the way! They squeal like an old train badly with gentle daily use but once they've had a good hammering they are fine for a few days.
As said change the fluid. I boiled mine at croft and the peddle went straight to the floor. Pretty scary when your on the back straight with a passenger! I didn't even know his name:lol::lol:

Hi guys thanks for the input I'll have to have a look for XP8's I've currently got some squealing pads in but they look to be getting low and I'm going to book the car into our local Mitsubishi specialist NR Autosport for a full service and all Fluids changed.

Thanks

you could try the XP10. Less dust and less squeal and ideal if your doing track days too, and using Nick you can't go wrong for advice etc.
I used XP10s in my 400 bhp VIII for years (on and off track) and they were excellent - little to no squeal and amazing stopping power.

Definitely get fresh uprated fluid in there, as someone mentioned above, the Evo's standard brakes have the capability to produce immense amounts of heat and uprated pads even more so - you do not want your fluid to boil and your brakes to fail at 100 mph going into a corner!

ATE Super Blue or Gold is a good compromise for performance vs cost.:smthumbup

Look at some upgraded discs and pads. I had performance friction discs and pads on my 9 and with decent fluid and cooling ducts they worked very well.

Have you got braided lines? Worth the little money they cost imo

But as said, the xp8s are excellent pads. They can be a pin to live with but damn they are good. I forget the name of them but Pagid also make some good pads but they arent cheap

Hi Guys thanks for the input the Evo is currently running Friction Discs, Pads and braided lines but they really do squeal I'm struggling to find rebuild kits for the Brembo Calipers as I want to strip them down have them all rebuilt and powder coated whilst I'm at it.

I've just had giro 2 piece front discs fitted with Pagid RS29 pads front and rear along with hks lines and castrol SRF brake fluid and BOY is there a different in braking power. I'm still running the standard Brembos and i am well pleased with my new set up,not the cheapest of performance pads but one of the best out there.. No squealing either, which is why I looked beyond Xp8's.:)

I have the same combo above but with titanium shims also (supposed to reduce risk of squeeling) and I have the most embarrassing squeeling you can imagine, slow or fast speed makes no difference (they do it all the time after 1 medium to hard brake). I have just bought some original brembo shims to see if that helps, if not maybe a refurb of my calipers and if it still persists a change of brake pads.

You have the same RS29 pads all round,or Xp8's.? I know from reading on the forum that most are gonna get some sort of noise/squealing from high performance brake pads. Maybe mine has yet to squeal as everything is brand new at the the moment, but i hope I don't start to hear it..:-(
