I agree Blade, no racing as all that shows is who is the better race driver, and how would you decide the grid. Timed laps are the best way to go.

WRT rolling road tests before hand, I personally think that this is a bit irrelevent as these are two different activities. One shows the most powerful car, the other shows the fastest. For instance, Blade's strpped out track car needs less power than my GSR to achieve the same on road performance. If we want to have a contest about who produces the most power from an engine or who can get nearest to their power claims then make it a separate event. IMO, 2 days on the trot for people in the business is a bit unreasonable.

The Race idea was not to prove anything,its just showbusiness .I agree with the idea of it being a MLR day Tony,Rolling Road @PE followed by Track day at Brands Hatch Tuners cars arriving after rolling road session and going out as you suggested in a closed session 1 warm up lap,followed by 1 qualifying lap a five or six car shoot out,could be fun.Points scored for bhp,torque,and fastest lap on the day creating an overall winner all the cars driven by the same driver .Remember its all a bit of fun?

Very interesting idea, I will be up for this as long as my car is finnished
I hope it will be by the time you have stated but I would roughly like to get a date (month at least) to work too.

Having said that my engine hasn't even been pulled yet. Well I do have a small thing like a track day today(yes it's already gone 12) Damn must get to bed otherwise I will be dead on my feet at Snet.

Just finalise the details and all things being equal my car will be ready ( no slicks you say )

Brunters is good fun, the last time we were there Performance Ford Mag top speed challenge, we hit 182.6 mph - now stopping is even more fun 3dr Sierra by the way.

I have recorded ( GPS ) 168mph in my only gently modded E6 ( at the mo ) but the rev limiter is the problem.
Did a shoot out for Redline mag and Kamacazi video at RAF Bovingdon, my Evo only did 4.4 to 60 and 12.7 1/4 mile. Tony Brookes M.A.D. Escort Cossie 3.23 to 60 and 11.9 1/4

Hopefully the more heavily tuned Evo's should start to get near the big Cossie times, can't let ford have all the glory

But circuits is a different story, we just kick there asses what sort of lap times you doing at Castle Combe/ Cadwell etc.

T27 - Surprised you got 168 in your EVO at Brunty... thought the drag would make it a bit slower. Was it a standing start or running start?

Bet it didn't feel comfortable at that speed!

The M5 was great, except for 6th gear - which is too high. It took as long to get to 160 as it did to get from 160 to 172, because at 160 I changed into 6th. Still, with a bit more power... think I need that 530bhp engine upgrade for it

Couldn't try the EVO that day as I was still running it in after the rebuild (!)

Haven't done Cadwell, and no times at Combe. I managed 1m23 at Donnington, Ed moore was coming under 1m 20 in my car. I managed 1m30 at Croft, but definitely could have gone quicker with a bit less traffic.

Both are pretty good times apparently. I am fitting proper Stack timing gear in the car now, and track mapping too, to help improve my craft

Thorak - slicks are out, but street legal tyres can be slicky (e.g. Dunlop Performance R, Pirelli PZero Corsa etc.).

I say we go for March or April so that we have decent weather, and get enough time to organise this properly. What do you all say?

On the circuit, I dunno, I think my car will be really hard to beat there - but I don't know what other people have up their sleeves.

Hey, as an addenda, we could get some other cars and run the winner of the EVO's against them!

Droid could loan his M3, I would loan my M5 - someone has 340R here (Jackal)? Yellow5 could stick in his Skyline, I am sure MAD could get a top Cossie there, I can get a 355 Challenge there (I think). Add a 911 turbo or GT2 (or RSR even), maybe a top scooby (one of the guys at work has a P1) and TimEvo has a Noble (or will have)... That would get another twist and might get the likes of EVO magazine interested too!

Hi Blade,nothing is up Honest,your initial idea excited me,but Bruntingthorpe doesnt.For me to give a 100% to any project it has to motivate me,and Bruntingthorpe doesnt.That s not to say it isnt a good idea ,because it is but for me its not creative enough I was looking to promote something more showbusiness that would appeal to a wider audience and effectively be a family day out .Like Trax but better and only Japanese cars.With the highlight of the day being the on track shoot out.

If I can help in a support role in any way I will ,anything to help the MLR ,Ill even make the tea ,and of course I will be there .

The car in question belongs to a friend, and yes it is quick, very quick, very very quick. it's a UK supplied car, and Dave's spent a hell of a lot of money on it (not sure of exact amount, but upwards of £20k has been mentioned). I'm seriously thinking of selling mine, and buying this instead, as it's already got all the bits I want.

Still not happy about no slicks. My car is set up for the track on slicks. My road tyres are 18in but all my track work is done on my OEM 17in wheels. As the car is fairly neutral (with a slight tendancy to oversteer) on 17's but on the road it understeers. This would be no contest on the track as your car would kill mine. (not saying it wouldn't anyway )

But to make the best chance for everyone I would say anything goes. Nitorous as well. As we will not be doing any of this on the road who cares if the tyres are E-marked.

Just my thoughs.

I will bring PE, and contact MAD (T27 will sort that I think). Simon Extreme and SUperL could bring Ralliart, what about the others? Who can sort them? And privateers??

I only said full slicks as I only have my spare rims with full slicks and I am not made of money as I will have a massive hole in my wallet this Christmas (Althought not as big as yours ) so I just wanted not to buy another set of tyres. Just me being tight .

As far as I know no-one has used nitrous. wink wink nudge nudge. Say no more.

I better ask Dragon then, I think they will be up for it as it is only a larf.

I only set you car as a benchmark as your car was the first done( and still been done if you know what I mean http://www.lancerregister.com/graphics/Wilk.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| middle >) so it the car to beat figurativly. You get the gist anyway.
