I have seen plenty of people on horses texting as i have driven past. ****es me off, Im expected to ruin my country lane blatt to slow down for someone who could just as easily ride on a bridleway, and then they have the cheek to not even be in control of the ****ing beast when I pass! no thanks, no wave, too busy texting her mate about the roasting she got last night

fair enough, but as I am expected to pull off the road to write a text or use the phone, they should remove their animal from the roadside and dismount if they wish to. all it takes is a second of no concentration and someone shooting in a nearby field......

who said anything about scaring them? I drive past them in the same way I would a courteous rider, slowly, quietly and smoothly...I just might be swearing under my breath.....

fact;the driver was paying no attention to the road
an accident which may well have been avoided.

Had the cyclist not run the red light, he would NOT have been hit regardless of weather the driver was texting or not. Unless of course the driver lost control of the car, swerved violently to the side and hit the cyclist while he was waiting at the junction. which seems a little unlikely.
