How will you know if your engine is a 2G or a 1G.
I got my engine from a Galant Vr-4.
Red Valve Cover, and the throttle has
ECI MULTI TURBO INTERCOOLER etched in it.
while on the Valve Cover, DOHC 16 Valve is etched.
thanks, i have read in one of the previous posts
that a 4G63T can go up to 440hp without changing internals.
will this also apply for 1G 4G63T's like mine?

I'm also planning on replacing my stock cables to
Splitfire cables, will this increase my performance?
check out this US site for some info and a plethora of go-faster parts for Eclipse/VR4 4G63's:

I remember reading somewhere that the non-Evo 4G63's can be modded to higher BHP output levels than Evo engines-- something to do with larger oil channels, or some other internal difference. But I'm no expert, so please don't quote me!
For maximum HP you can't beat the VR4 motor with it's humungous inlet ports. Not such good low down torque though as the 2g and evo motors. Rods are bigger and stronger too. Weakest link is the pistons, then the rods. Best tune up for cash is bigger turbo and exhaust - followed by porting the exhaust elbow and manifold. If you want more than 300hp you will need bigger injectors, intercooler, fuel pump, S'AFC or VPC etc. There is a lot of knowledge on the web on the dsm forums and parts can be had pretty cheap too.
The top drag racers are getting over 600hp out of the 1G 4G63T and running 9 second quarters.
wow! 600 hp? i'm planning on increase my engines hp without changing internals, can my stock engine (all stock, wastegate and bov) handle up to 1.5 bar of boost? would a safc help to provide adequate supply of fuel?
As long as you have a large intercooler, large exhaust and enough fuel (injectors, fuel pump, S'AFC) you should be able to run 1.5 bar on a stock 1G motor - the turbo might need upgrading though. For peace of mind at anything over 1.2 bar I would lose the balance shafts and consider some forged pistons. I would definitely get myself a datalogger either laptop or palm type - that is the only way to check knock sums, injector pulse widths, air flow meter count etc.. Also an accurate boost gauge and an EGT gauge for the turbine temp. are a must.
What type of car is this 1G going in?
Did the injectors have blue (450cc/min) or yellow (510cc/min) ends?
What type of turbo are you running?
What size intercooler?
What size exhaust?
i have a very small intercooler,
the stock one that came with the vr4,
td04 turbo,
3 exhaust all the way through,
but for the injectors, i'm not really sure, where do i find it?
can i easily upgrade my injectors? would it increase fuel consumption
on low throttle use?
Is it US VR4 (black crappy intercooler - taller than it is wider) or Japanese spec. - about 400x250x65mm natural aluminum intercooler?
Yes injector upgrades are easy - check out www.roadraceengineering.com
You will need a bigger fuel pump and and a fuel controller (eg S'AFC).
The stock 14b is good for no more than about 300hp at about 1.2 bar boost.
I wouldn't recommend anything more than 1 bar (250hp) without a bigger intercooler and fuel upgrades though.
yup its the small black alimunum intercooler. around 6 to 8 long.
i'm getting 1.2 bar of boost before, but now after my mechanic
installed the vacuum tube from my wastegate to the intake plenum
i only get .7 bar.
