Good day mates! Can I fit 225/45 wheels on 17x7 rims? Reason is I saw a set of enkei pk6 wheels which would be awsome on my evo which are only offered in 17x7 wheels. I dont wanna go 215 on my evo, its just too thin!

Well according to the Michelin and Toyo websites a 225/45/17 will fit a 7.0-8.5 width rim.

Cheers

But if you go too wide on a thinner rim it can make the tyre over hang a lot and will affect the handling because the tyre will flex more.

As a general guide a rim width should be 90% of the tyre width, so for 225mm the ideal rim is 8 inches. As has been said though you need to check with specific tyre manufacturers for the allowable limits.

Which EVO do you have m8? It will have to be a 4 or less, or the 7in rims won't fit over your brakes...

I run 225/620 (approx /40) 17 slicks on 17x7s with no problems :D

Cheers :)
