Top speed is governed by gearing and BHP. Not sure if the standard VIII gearbox is capable of 200 MPH, but if it is and yours tops out at 170 you'll need about another 300 BHP to get to 200. If the gearbox doesn't go that high then you'll need new gearing to achieve that speed.

Mate i suspect to make another 29 Mph will probally cost you £20k
in engine mods !! Not really worth it IMO

I run that kind of power in my VI but it won't do 200mph.

Top speed is probably about 165-170 max. The power upgrade will only help you get there faster.

The previous owner of my car took it on a top speed challenge day with timing gear and achieved 172mph, but that was with the rev limiter set at 8200 rpm and evo VII wheels with 235/45/17 tyres which are slightly larger than the std VI wheels.

As others have said I think you'll need to alter your gearing to achieve 200mph...

Why the big need to make 200 anyway? Pub talk?

no mate, i need big speeds for next years gumball, to be honest 180mph would be fine, i was racing a mercedes slr and lambo murcialargo this year in hungary for ages up to 170mph, just annoying they have more top end left after that. only one car hit 200 this year as far as i know, a gallardo, but obviously reliability is paramount, so maybe i,ll aim for 180+......

On the E 4/5/6 GSR gearbox, you need to swap to the 4.111 final drive ratio to get 200 mph. This is what Simon Norris and I use .You could use the E7 5th gear ratio, but this gives a big rev drop when you go from 4th to 5th

200 mph comes at 8400 rpm with the GSR ratios and 4.111 final drive on std E6 tyres.

Ahh the gumball, now that's a more legitimate reason :D

Looks like Norm (Evo Too) has come up with the details that you need. Not sure if reliability will be there for sustained use at 8400 rpm though!!!!

Norm, when you say that 200 is at 8400 with std gsr ratios is that the std VI gsr ratios or the std VII ratio 5th gear you mentioned?

Also, how much difference does that VII 5th gear make? Im not thinking for top speed really, more for a quieter ride on the motorway????
