Evo V restore

Well today I finally received my imported 5, a 3 month wait which seemed like forever

Grade 3 at auction with corrosion under listed (unfortunately I was on the lower end of the budget) but willing to put the work in to end up with a clean 5

Paintwork is in really good condition and the interior is really clean. It seems pretty standard with some new parts recently fitted (hks exhaust, brakes, tyres,) and some aftermarket bits under the bonnet

The rear chassis rails have corroded and a bit of the boot floor, hence me starting a project thread. I've researched a bit and seen a couple of options (new 8 chassis rails) but looking at all options. There's also a hole on the off side front just behind the mudflap.

Looking for some pointers and useful advice maybe from others who have done this, I'm fully aware what I've bought and have no intention of breaking the car. I want to create a really clean standard car

Thanks for looking, wish me luck....

Some pics of the rust

It's mainly the chassis rails at the back and a small bit behind the mudflap on the front

On the upside the sills and shock towers look good

Looks good mate. Be worth it when it is done. You are only putting value on them when work is completed.

Did you buy this from trade or did you import it personally?

Nice to see another one getting saved rather striped and cut into parts iam on the same path looks good on to until you flip the car upside down to revel the horrors. Nice one

That looks an awful lot of work. Hats off for giving it a go.

I would have personally gone for one with a more solid underside to 'save'

Be interesting to see how it pans out.
