12 years later and back to Evo ownership..

Having to sell my VI 12 years ago because I left the UK for work in the Middle East, I've always wanted to get back into EVO ownership. Currently I own a 2017 Stage 3 RS3 and a 2015 FBO R35 GTR. Great cars love them both but they seriously lack the agility and rawness of an EVO. Now finding a 1-6 here in Qatar is impossible, 7 to 9 rare as hens teeth, whilst there are always a scattering of 10s for sale in the classifieds (not for me though). All cars here MUST be LHD which totally kills importing anything from the UK, only the US is an option but shipping prices are high af!

So when a VII came up for sale here, I had to have it regardless of the condition. I see the EVO as a project car for sure and I will try and do as much as I can myself. The car I've bought is rather rough around the edges and the previous owner has done some pretty nasty stuff to it including some some tacky red bride seats, a silly exhaust and a messy gauge install. No history with the car and I'm buying from a garage who have no history either, it's definitely going to require some care and attention.

At any other point I'd stay well clear of a car like this but over hear the chances of coming across another for sale is next to impossible and many don't keep records of work done etc, especially on a 20 year old car. Considering I paid the equivalent of just under 6 grand, I'm not complaining.

On the test drive the engine and gearbox seem good. First thing is all the major fluids changing along with timing belt, water pump, engine mounts. As there is zero history it needs to be done sitting at 100kms.

I was more excited to pick up this VI than I was when I bought the RS3 or the GTR. Love how different all three cars are, the EVO feels the most raw and nibble of the lot.

Looks a great start and you can’t argue on the price. I’m assuming rot is no issue as it came from sunny shores?

Good work mate

Don't see many 7s on the road. Looks like a decent project. Welcome back to the Evo world.
