is the car running ok ? just above oil filter there a bung u can tap into that for a gauge if u wanted too.
or remove the the coil connectors and crank it over before u u do your first start. that will get the oil around the engine.
As far a I recall my engine builder used to turn the engine over by hand until oil appeared in the top of the head. But he was a stickler for that kind of thing.
Thanks, I think it is stupid that it does not show "low oil pressure" light when engine is not running. In the good old days you can crank until the light went off so you know oil pressure is ok and you can start.
I read that sometimes the oil pump does not pump the oil because of air in the pump.
I spin the the oil pump with an electric drill until I see oil
appearing around the cams etc.
Decent battery drill will also do it.
You will feel a big difference in resistance once the oil is picked up.
Turning by hand is never going to achieve this.
I always turn the pump with an electric drill on older evos, after major engine work.... but on the X the pump is run by a chain off the crank so without removing the front cover and sump it can not be done..
Having said that, investing in a small electric oil pump would give you the option of pre lubing the whole engine before starting up... for first start at least..
I will measure the oil pressure sensor with a multimeter if I get oil pressure.
(hope the sensor is good)
