C-TEC Product Update

Firstly, a massive thanks to all of our customers and distributors for your support over the last 12 years. It really is appreciated, and here's to the next 12 years

Here's a bit of background, to explain why C-TEC Performance came about.

It wasn't until I started our development programme for Evo X early 2008, that C-TEC was inadvertently created. The longer standing members on here may remember the predominantly new Evo's I imported from Japan. I had and still have a real passion for the RS models, so it was only natural for me to focus on these cars. I imported my first new Evo back in 2004, Evo 8 at that time. I've been very fortunate to be able to help a good number of MLR members not only source cars, but subsequently maintain and tune them.

I was at the Tokyo motor show in 2007 to see the launch of Evo X, and to secure a supply of new Evo X RS. This resulted in my first cars to arrive here late 2007. UK dealers did not see Evo X for many months after this. The Evo X was a total departure from the previous models, no more 4G63 and a totally new 4B11T engine instead. The Evo X prompted a different approach. No established well proven aftermarket performance parts. Everyone was starting with a blank sheet.

We had a steep learning curve with the new car and this included quite a few disappointing days on the dyno. The main issue, a surprising amount of aftermarket parts just weren't delivering. So, the first C-TEC exhaust parts were produced. Our goal was a simple one, to produce a high quality 304 grade stainless, true 3" system, with the overriding emphasis on performance. 12 years on, and we still have that same goal.

What this means is a desire to continually evolve and improve our products. Over these past few months, we have been working through the relevant stages. Ideas progress to CAD, components such as flanges can then be laser cut to exact spec. Initial prototype parts are fabricated to test fit and in house back to back tests carried out. Revisions are worked through and a test part is made ready to dyno.

Development works are well underway with upgrades to most of the C-TEC exhaust range. Evo 4-6, Evo 7-9 & Evo X will see upgrades.

I will update this thread as we roll out the new components. Here are a few photos of the new generation C-TEC Evo 4-6 3" V band cat back system.
