Smart Motorway Cameras

Not sure if this is common knowledge so thought I'd share this from another forum reference smart motorway cameras. I do not know how true it is but I'm not willing to find out

Smart Motorway cameras were switched on 24hrs a day from the 1st February 2018 even when there is no speed restriction shown at the following locations:

M1 J6 - J13
M1 J25 - J31
M1 J39 - J42
M25 J10 - J16
M25 J10 - J23
M6 J4 - J13
M42 J7 - J9.

I'm led to believe that the cameras were dormant and only active when a speed limit was in force other than the national speed limit. Well not anymore apparently.

Motorway tax!!

Got caught doing 61 in a 50 by one of these on the M1 when i was going down to the motogp... i can confirm that the motorway speed awareness course is equally as horrendous as all of the other ones.

I'm led to believe that now the are on 24hrs a day regardless of the speed restrictions. If you pass one above the 70mph national speed limit you'll get a ticket. Not sure if its true but not going to find out.

Not too sure to be honest. The only ones I have seen are in the gantries.

10% above the Speed limit

77mph then you get a ticket. Remember not 77mph according to your speedo but based on your true speed

I know that is the case with average camera's but if the smart motorways are working 24 7 im sure we would have all of heard about it if they were set to give you a fine at 77mph..

Literally everyone on the m25 travels at 80mph= when its clear.. Hence we would all have been fined or know someone who had been caught by now..

i reckon they are set at 99mph but would be good to know for sure?

70 mph + 10% + 2 mph measured on THEIR instruments, not yours. Can't be too sure that your satnav auxiliary GPS measurements are correct.

I heard that anything over 70 (or lower indicated speed limit at the time) would be prosecuted. True or false?
