Progress update.

Couple of areas that need attention before final preps for paint.
Small area between body panel that the wire brush couldn't reach.

Same spot with Deox-Gel applied and left to work.

40mins later and with gel wiped off. Not a brilliant example of how good these Bilt Hammer products are but there you go.

Some pictures of the clean-up process.

Area as seen during strip down.

Area after some scraping with a paint scraper.

After some light work with a wire brush attachment. Nothing a bit of elbow grease won't rid.

The result.

After painting the following day.

Whilst all this had been going on I'd left my arches coated with Metal Blast to rid any remaining rust and etch the metal resulting in better paint adhesion.

Left this on for about 30mins then wiped off with a damp rag and left to dry overnight ready to receive the first coat of paint this morning.

Gave the arches one final scuff with a scuff pad before applying the first coat of Rust Bullet.

Rust Bullet requires multiple coats applied between 2 and 4 hours after the previous, so naturally I put this drying time to good use.

Chucked some paint stripped on my S****y looking tank.
Before:

After:

Once I've stripped the tank of any rust I'll be treating, priming and finally painting it black whereas the guards will get the rust bullet treatment.

Drilled out the spot welds and removed tank guards before I set to work stripping them down.

That's about it for today...

Think this looks ok? Check out Coskev's VI, This guy is the master so any questions/tips should be directed towards him...

Well, it's been one of those days.
I've had to bin a couple of brushes, knocked half a paint tin over which made a right mess and smacked my arm on a workbench. In general it's been a frustrating day, but progress has been made.

If there was just one job I could avoid, it would be seam sealing. Stuff is an absolute nightmare to work with and yet the professionals make it look so damn quick and easy.

Once dried another coat of Rust Bullet applied.

I then went on to painting the underside I'd prepared earlier in the week.

Cheers Kev.

Not a great deal done today. Got the seams all sealed up and painted under the seat wells and finished painting one side of the petrol tank guard.

All cleaned up and etched.

And painted with 2coats of Rustbullet

Top coated

Made some good progress today thanks to the help of a mate.

Petrol tank is all primed up and ready for a coat of gloss black.

Decided to take a break from working under the car and went about tiding up the alloy suspension arms I'd collected.

Before & After

Original steel Vs cleaned alloy

All that's left to do now is fit a couple Ralliart bushes.

Started work on the largest section of floorpan.

This is why I'm finding it difficult taking photos of this section. Very little room to work. I'll be raising the car a further 4" this week to make things easier.

Think I'll make a start on the front arches tomorrow...

A lot of work has been put in over the past week by both me and a couple friends.

The main floor pan has been painted leaving just seeming sealing and 1 more coat of paint before it can be put to bed. The arches have also been stripped, treated and etched ready for painting.

Pictures.

Also picked up my parts from the coaters. Very pleased with the results
