Have you got a list of engine mods, mines going into APT soon and we're still not definite on what turbo to go for.554bhp is a nice number!

Windscreen is now out. Fortunately there is only a wee bit of surface rust underneath, this will be cleaned up and treated, then new windscreen going in.

Car should be done by end of next week.

Had the old girl out couple weekends back, with a chap called Mark I randomly met at a local Shell garage, driving his V RS. We had a real nice drive out in the sun down past Goodwood to Bognor, then back.

Saturday just gone was also rather nice, so I got her out and went out for a nice drive. Let me friend have a drive, I think he was very impressed indeed judging by the comments. I realise I am very OCD about my driving style, I try to be as smooth as humanly possible with all my inputs. I noticed a lot he would give big prods of the throttle which is unnecessary, and the car jerks a lot. So I really drilled into him to modulate his inputs, reduce the throttle, I find the car hasa so much to give at half throttle, it's rare I actually go flat out.

Everything is running just fine.

I'm going to Infinity Exhausts soon to get the mid section replaced with something quieter, as the car is just too loud especially on long journeys, and I also don't want to attract too much attention in France when I relocate there this summer.

Car is booked into APT next month. Will get the rad replaced with a thick core Koyo unit, get a general look over the car, and quite possibly get a MOTEC ECU installed..

Updates to follow.

Yeah, for sure. Just love it too much, and I know I will regret forever if she goes and probably never find another like it..

Car is currently with APT for annual healthcheck.

Few items needing attention, bit of corrosion on the oil cooler pipework and the sump, so those bits will be replaced. Radiator will be upgraded. I have had some concerns for a while now about excessive oil usage, it seems that there are a number of possible places I could be losing oil what with the above, and there was a small leak on the rocket cover gasket. With luck once all this is sorted out, I won't be losing any more oil.

Finally, if I have enough left in my budget we'll stick a MOTEC ECU on.

Fluids changed, few shiny bits, new ECU. I can pretty much say that the car is now just as I want it, I canít see any more mods that need doing. Great work by APT as always.

How’s it drive now on the Motec compared to before? Did you identify the oil usage?

Straight away I noticed that the throttle response is smoother, you definitely feel the difference

There was oil leaking from corroded oil cooler pipework and from a corroded sump, also some gaskets have been replaced. Little too early yet to say categorically that no more oil usage, but definitely an improvement.

Also ran compression and leak down test and results very positive.

Happy to report Iíve checked the oil level this morning after running a good few miles through her last weekend, and it hasnít moved. So whatever Gary did replacing bits has solved the issue.

Shame the weather is a little grey here after a stunning week, but Iím away for a blast anyhoo

Well, it's been an interesting week. Went for a blap on Thursday last and the rear diff gave up. Got the car recovered to Jap Performance Parts in Crawley, as they have a replacement. An 8 MR diff is in the process of going on. I asked Saj down there to have a good look under the car whilst here was there, as I'd value his opinion on any corrosion issues. He's pointed a couple of things out, sooooooo

(here we go again)

I've asked them to remove all the black underseal from underneath, we are going to need to replace some of the fuel pipework (which is on it's way out from corrosion) and possibly cut out a couple of bits and weld some plates in. A good proper clean up and inspection, and then some nice fresh treatment/underseal.

What would people recommend for rust treatment/proofing?

Then I have to get the alignment and geometry re-done, get an MOT, and I'm driving the car to France at the end of the month.

God help me, I hope this all get's done in time. It's eating into my savings for the move and a house also

Why do we do it? Love I guess.
