Hi

We're not dong Black Friday, we have a pre-Black Friday deal though. Until Midnight tonight, you can use the code WHAT15 for 15% off the website prices.

Cheers

Hi Tim,

I've enjoyed catching up on this thread. You advice please on an Evo VII engine (in a VI) with forged rods/piston, 272 cams, 350bhp, used for hillclimbing, sprinting and tarmac rallying. Currently use Total Quartz 9000 5W40. I change engine oil after most events so I'm keen to hear your advice
Cheers Jim

Hi Jim

Any idea how hot the oil is getting when driven hard? Does it burn much oil?

Cheers

Tim

Hi there Simon,

What do you recommend for a standard, apart from exhaust Tommi Mak?

Cheers

Hi

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT+, Motul Sport/300V, Red Line and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XF Longlife, Castrol Edge/Magnatec, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

Cheers

Tim

Oil recommendation

Hi there!
What's the recommendation for my Evo 6?
I run 1 trackday per month, and some daily ride on sunday with family.
Btw, i live in Dominican Rep (caribbean) so my winter is 28 celcius jajaja.
Cheers!!

Hi

Is the car standard or modified, if modified, to what extent?

Any idea how hot the oil gets on track?

Cheers

Tim

Hello.
The car is Stock. Not idea about temp on the track but I'm sure will be high based on my last ride. I'm looking for Amsoil 15w/50, but don't know yet.
Thanks!

What oil for AYC top up

Hi,

After few hundreds of miles of spirited driving in the snow, I noticed today that the AYC fluid in the left compartment of the boot is just below the min indication.

So, what do I fill up with before I do a proper oil change in summer? The oil that is in there right now is Mitsi's.

Thanks,
Socrates

Check the level after the car has been standing for 30+ minutes

Hi

You need an ATF and due to the required specs I would go for either the Amsoil ATF, Motul Multi ATF, Red Line D4, Fuchs ATF4400, Gulf Multi Vehicle ATF, Castrol ATF Multi Vehicle or Millers Millermatic ATF SPIII.

Question regarding recommendations for oil:

Vehicle: Evo 9 GT with 70 series turbo running stock power

Mainly used for slalom/sprints (running street class). So driving (temperature range) will be generally speaking based around

- 20-50 miles on highway to event
- 0.6 miles to 3 miles of sprinting/slalom (3-4 runs - generally 50 seconds to 2 mins long with a 5 minute interval in between)
- 20-50 miles highway back home

Would Millers 5W-40 fit the bill?

I have a tech question about mixing different brands of oil and wonder whether you can advise?

I have a litre or so of Petronas Syntium 5w40 Synthetic oil and wondered whether it'd be acceptable to use it as a top-up oil for my remapped standard-engine Evo 6 while running Mobil1 5w40 Synthetic?

Cheerz
