That's pretty obvious to anyone with a brain, but even 1% mortality of the population of the world is 80 million people.

Good news.

"Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson, who created the highly-cited Imperial College London coronavirus model"

"Ferguson thus dropped his prediction from 500,000 dead to 20,000."

So about the same number of deaths as an average year of flu, the issue is that the total hospital admissions are occurring in such a short period of time and overwhelming an already stretched NHS.

Yes, but his number was a maybe, if people strictly observe the current new measures. They said the same thing when they withdrew their earlier modelling and said suppression was the only option:

"Imperialís researchers presented their latest analysis after the prime ministerís press conference at 10 Downing Street on Monday. Modelling a scenario similar to the new measures ó including social distancing of the whole population, home isolation of cases and household quarantine of their families ó might bring total deaths down to about 20,000 if they were observed strictly, said Azra Ghani, a member of the Imperial team."

Yup and just like that there will be ignorant fools failing this, becoming a statistic themselves.

Still though that estimation may seem bad thats a lot better than originally estimated. And yes will be horrible for 20k+ people.

Also good to hear Mita, you've gave us people more hope of getting over it than the media covering only deaths and no recovered people (to some extent). Still not something any of us would want or closest relatives.

I see the Real Madrid players were asked to take a 70% pay cut while they are self isolating and they all kicked off and refused. Who are they going to play for and they can't survive on 30% of some of the top players wages in the world
