Flashing out EGR and Immobiliser

Evening all..

I have a IX ECU that still has the immobiliser on it, I also need to have the EGR flashed off too as itís going in to a 5 so donít want a warming light. Is this something that can be done on the bench? Along with a base map ?

Thanks

Think you can turn those functions off with ecuflash

Yes you can bench flash no issues. If you use jdm IX rom (which I would prefer anyway), theres no need to disable EGR as it does not have it.

Well thatís good info thanks mate

So I guess to bench flash one would need a harness ?

Would a tuner/mapper be able to do this? Or can I do it? I just need a base map to get to the tuner!

Grants may be worth a PM.

In theory you'll need to just hook up the 3 power connections and OBD comms wires. Bit of a pain in the bum for a 1 off job IMO.

Any reason you can't plug it into someone else's car to power it up and flash the data bits you need?

Thanks again

As you can now see , I will put the ECU in the car and then use a cable and EvoScan . Itís for a MIVEC 5rs so I just wanted to make sure I can start up and have a base map for any issues, an MOT and then Mapping

I’ve looked at Evoscan , admittedly not a lot as I’m away at the min. Is it pretty straightforward? It looked a bit hard to navigate. I guess it’s ok to use on a MacBook Pro ?

Have you had a read of Merlins Guide (it is on the Evoscan website) as that will answer your question ref the immobiliser.
I haven't run it directly in OSX, I have parallels desktop and Win 7 and Win 10 as VMs which work fine for all ECUs I've played with.
