Exhaust options for removing de-cat
Hi all,
This may seem a silly question to some but I want to make sure I look into the right solution for my car. I bought my car around 5 years ago with (what I can tell) is a custom exhaust system bolted onto a standard sized de-cat. Each year I have had to fit a standard catalytic converter (with adapter pipe to fit standard de-cat size) for MOTs etc. which I have put up with but I am a bit tired of now, so I want to get my car back into a more standard set up. I am looking at the Russ Fellows cat back exhaust system as I have heard good things about them, however I am unsure as to what is the best option for me when replacing the exhaust... As far as I know, my options are either a cat back with a standard cat or a sports cat? What are the recommended options people go for in terms of sports cat? I can get the exhaust replaced pretty easily but would I be right in thinking that I will need to get the car remapped as well as it is currently mapped for a de-cat? The cat I was using for MOTs has died so I want to avoid this for the new exhaust/set up. Any help would be greatly appreciated ![]() Luke |

A bit late of a reply, but in case you are not sorted already, a euro 3 200cel sports cat will see you through an MOT. You will need to address mapping as with the cat there is less scavenging by the exhaust system and also to make sure the exhaust emissions comply with MOT regulations. You can keep the sports cat on the car permanently as it will not be a restriction.
