Having seen a few restoration threads on here and thinking I’d like to do this with my evo I was wondering what sort of money people are spending on them or are they a bottomless pit and it is what it is ,

An absolute fortune. Thousands mate, and hundreds and I mean hundreds of man hours.

Loved every minute of it
What a liar

On a serious note all depends on the finish money wise but when you start you do one bit then think oh that let's that down and before you know it you've gone ocd crazy or bankrupt lol. Mines not a show piece like some of these but even mines taken hundreds of hours to get something like. Would hate to have paid someone to complete it for me but I'm thousands in cost wise bushes, clips, bolts they all add up

Yeah, a small fortune. I've just started my car, like just, and i'm already questioning if i should have haha. Buying all tools you need, to the already huge expense of all the bits i need to replace and the 'while im there' kinda jobs.
Im tempted to start a thread about it, ive got to change the legs on mine as well ( i thought they were savable )

I should note that i'm absolutely loving doing it though.

Whatever your budget is.... Quadruple it... Seriously.

As said... Alot of cost is on the build up when you are putting/buying new parts instead of fitting rusty worn parts back on.

Brake lines... Fuel lines... Bushes.. Arms...etc etc... You will replace alot... But depends how Fussy you are.

My resto took about 8-9 months.. Bare shell. ... And hundreds of hours... And I was a panel beater of 27 years.

Good luck.

Yeah this is a worry as the car is very good condition already but it's the finer detail that I want to do but as said I got a funny feeling it will end up being a long winded pain in the end ,I have thought about giving it to a specialist to get on with it but don't think it would be the same as me doing as much as I can

Totally impossible to say exact cost tho mate.....anywhere between 2k and 20k.

As rough estimate,i spent..£300 on a rollover spit....say 750 on materials (rust bullet,paint,discs etc)...then thousands and thousands on parts/upgrades. :mhihi:...example,while the engine was out...water pump,cambelt kit,filters,fluids,gaskets.

Depends on what you call "mint" and things like "oh ill refurb the rear diff while its off and get a new exhaust and fuel pump, rear anti roll bar"....etc.etc.etc.

Enjoy..:smthumbup:crackup:
