I am absolutely loving doing it, so much fun and so interesting. Mark is fantastic. I just wanted to do it right first time, however that’s now biting me in the arse as it tends to cost

I will make a bit more effort with pics from now , now I know people are looking
... It's costing but it will be worth it in the end & the 5RS will be one of best Evo's around for years to come

I know how you feel re not knowing if people are actually reading your updates & is it worth doing them when it takes so long to sort/add photos plus descriptions of what's going on...I too am guilty of not updating my own progress thread for the exact same reason but you've come so far now with the build you can't stop & people are watching even if they don't comment

I'm looking forward to seeing all future updates

People are watching and appreciating it, I just like clean threads, I hate the ones where there are a load of pics then someone quotes just to say "great" and you have to scroll through the same pics multiple times!

Ok next update..

I know the stock coils are capable of running this kind of power, even my 10k mike ones. But with 600 plus HP and a shed load of boost I decided I wanted something a little more up to the job.

Courtesy of Jonathan @ AI Autosport - Genuine GTR 35 coils from Japan, bespoke alloy plate and wiring. What a lovely bit of kit, and a great guy to deal with. I would highly recommend him

Another few hours today on the Evo. I took a few pics of the rear arch , nothing exciting but I know you all like pics

I’m really not aiming at some minty car that I’m going to polish to death, it’s clean yes but IMO will be useable. I’ve no interest in taking it out in the winter Weather though, dry use only

Ok so next up, I did a bit more on the bay today. And as requested did some pics too

It’s pretty clean in there, just the odd chip that’s got some rust in it, and a few scratches here and there. I was just going to clean it up, but have decided I may as well give it a dusting of Scotia White. That will come a bit later as I have to firstly test fit the new intercooler and brackets. Everything in the bay will be cleaned up and reused , there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the parts. I consider it a total waste of money to go and buy new OE bits just for the sake of it. Again, I am not attempting to build an unusable car. To me there is nothing worse than feeling like you have to constantly clean the car, to a point where it becomes a pain to use.

Couple more with the loom out the way a bit more, I also removed the power steering pipes and cooler . Plus the front brace. I was pretty shocked how there was a bit of rust behind it, only surface but there is virtually no paint there

I did start to clean a bit with thinners but it was too harsh to start off, so will probably use some TFR next weekend. So for now that’s your lot!
