Coolant
I know this question has been asked a million times before, but I couldn't find a definitive answer, when I drained the coolant in my IV it had red coolant however I'm guessing it used to have green coolant as there was a load of scum and a layer of brownish red scale on the inside of the radiator. Since then I have been running de-ionised water and coolant flush to flush the old coolant, but now I need coolant as it's getting colder. A lot of people on here seem to recommend Comma 48 (green), others Comma 30 (red) and opie oils recommends/ rosssport sells Motul Inugel Optimal (orange).
Does anyone here have experience with mixed coolants and getting rid of the scale? And what would you recommend for my current situation? Red so I'm not mixing again or green so it's back to how it was? Apparently it used to be green from factory but people also say Japan standards are different from EU so green was equivalent to red? Thanks! |

I was recommended to use blue mono ethylene glycol by a trusted evo specialist for my 7. Also use this on my BMW no crud or corrosion and very strong stuff. euro car parts 3.98 for a litre of QX concentrated

Evo IV's are not fussy on coolant/antifreeze as such. The important thing is not to mix different types.
They are happy on standard blue monoethyleneglycol all the way to OAT coolants. Cheers, Guy
