Last 15/16 months or so im doing 40 hrs a week in general we wont count travel time lol

An odd Saturday maybe here n there , im self employed/sole trader now as i signed over my half of company to work partner of 10 years ! That was a hectic life of countless hours with diminishing rewards over last few years !!
So all work n no play makes jack dead

Chasing money no longer matters , holding on to a life of quality does

My contracted hours are Mon to Fri 8.30 to 6pm but I'm normally there from 7am and work most Saturdays but when we have deadlines I'll do 16 or so hour days and work 7 days a week.
My journey to and from work is 20 miles each way through country lanes, the evo makes it a pleasurable drive

I do that less than half the year though, I wouldn't put myself through anything close to that on a shore based job.

As many have said, quality of life wins and working offshore works well for me although not for everyone.

Thatís very true, I guess when youíre away you may as well get the hours in.

I wonder how many on here ďhaveĒ to do big hours due to a big house/mortgage?

Totally agree re quality of Life. Although many feel that comes with money, itís all relative though as the more you work the less free time you have.

Iíve certainly learnt to appreciate simple things instead of material ones

I love what i do for work, seeing the cars we build go from wrecks to concourse winning cars is a great feeling, it makes the time and effort put into them well worth it. It also helps when your on hourly pay, anything after the first 8 hours is overtime and thats at 1.5x normal hourly rate, Saturdays and Sundays are all overtime too.
