Rotten luck Karl.

Was this one of the first ball bearing conversions on an FP black?

The FP stock frame turbos do seem to be a bit of a lottery, which is ridiculous TBH.

A road car needs a good power spread and to be reliable, that's it.

I wouldn't personally go for a 3586HTA, far to much for a road/sprint car.

You seemed to be fixated on the 600 figure?

For a reliable road/sprint set-up I'd go 3076HTA or 3582HTA max.

That's real bad news.... You must be well gutted. Get a full frame turbo kit and wrap the project up now.

Cheers,

I hate to ask this, but why is the power starting to dip around 7k? My 2.2 revved to 8.5k and was still going strong. I thought a 2l long rod would hang on even better.

Not being rude, mean or winding you up. Just a genuine question.

Thanks

Yours

When the results are crap it's predictable that some will say....hey Kins, your results aren't as expected mate? I don't think I was the only one that noticed.

Gutted for you mate but I think you're now in that place where another smack in the face can't hurt anymore. I've been through it all and more with my JAM engine.

I just worry about your claim with FP. From what I've read on here they will think up some excuse to not pay out. I really hope they prove me wrong as they will gain more respect, more confidence from their customers and thus more sales if they give you a no hassle replacement, and quickly.

Good luck mate.

Kins had turbo failure in the back of his mind. That's why his head was inserted into fp's asse. His licking may now pay him back!

Hope it's all sorted hassle free though mate. So frustrating being in your position.

turbo

i didnt think the figures were bad-the turbo was probably binding in its bearing a bit before failure so you might get more go with another[owens do a good upgrade for the black, but thats another thing]
hope you get it sorted out asap, but as said you bought it off the right guy thats for sure.
it can only get better..standard fp cores would appear to be a bit of a hit and a miss

It started feeling a little doubtful here. UPS is bringing me tomorrow a new FP Red BB for my build.

I wonder how it is with the warranty if the turbo is first brought into use long after the purchase?

Hi,

Been following this build for months now and have been routing for you every time you get close to achiving your goal but this must be sickening for you mate.

I know you say your not too bothered as its covered by warranty etc but I know I would wana cry!

Personally I can't belive how anyone goes for these FP turbo's. I dont think I've seen a single thread saying that they've lasted well etc. It would/will be all about full frame for me when I decide to upgrade.

All the best and good luck.
