I still come on here daily and look through the ads and have a little browse here and there, but the forum is certainly less interesting than it was on the day to day basis. Gone are the days of lots of members spending fortunes on sprint cars which kept the forum going in both interesting build threads and banter from the competition of the MLRSS. I use Instagram a lot and you can find loads of ideas and inspiration, but there is nothing in communication or sources of information for any problems. I personally don't use Facebook much.

Ross, since your online store has come about, the new threads in your section has really slowed down IMO. Almost on a weekly basis new engine or group package offers where posted up which where quite exciting, but with your store you can kind of shop for yourself so I guess the posts are not required?
Also with the Evo platform being the age that it is, I guess the usual companies that used to bring out parts for have ceased development and moved onto the next range of new cars which gives you less products to advertise to us?

True, vintage is really in at the moment. Just the other day I picked up a rotary phone and a Filofax.

Take your point Tim. Trying to be more active again on here. It has been a very busy few years for us and I agree we have neglected to post as much on here. Must improve

It's probably a 50:50 split for me. I much prefer using the MLR forum on the whole but the lack of activity on here and increased activity on FB has me browsing the post in the fb groups too.

I'm pretty bored of facebook and social media on the whole though. Looking forward to the next trend but I hope it's not further devolution. Perhaps the forums will come full circle eventually - who knows.

I agree. I have been on VW and Cosworth forums for 15 years, and saw the decline. The thing is even when some make the effort to post something, no one gives a damn. I mean I have posted quite few things in my Evo 6 TME thread, haven't got much feedback/comments. So I just decided to stop posting. I am not saying I also comment or react on everybody's (picture) posts, but at least I try to do something.

I must say this forum is an immense help and a big database where to find info. Facebook is just ****e when it comes to groups, I mean, facebook is full of ads in the first place, so its hard to navigate anyway. I much prefer forums, but maybe that's because I'm not part of the new generation.

Hope this place survives and hopefully regain some glory that I haven't really seen due to being new, but that I have seen on other car scenes.

The MLR forum will never compete with the likes of evo FB groups if its own facebook page is not posting content. Before todays group buy post the last post was 28th August!

By putting content on their FB page they will drive traffic to these forums and in turn maybe generate more members.

When I spend time to create a thread updating people on how the 2 evos I drive are progressing, I feel like I'm showing 2 or 3 people, so for me, it's no longer worth the time and effort. We've got lots going on but I'm afraid the forum is a bit like a ghost town now.

Who am I even showing these photos to? Mita and that's it?

Omega Evo takes the Javelin Championship 2018 with 6 straight wins:

Whuppee....3 people will probably see this in 3 weeks

Mitsi hasn't brought out an evo in 10 years. Couple that with social media and you'll see why this place is dead.

This is a good point, some of the other forums I am on where the manufacturer is still producing more models, BMW M series, Audi RS, Skoda, Porsche etc are still quite active as there is new stuff, technical issues and so on to discuss.

Some other single mark forums are virtually dead as there is not many of them left on the road any more.

Cheers,

Guy

Interesting results, they show that current MLR users prefer the MLR over social media, so why have the numbers dropped off when it's such a useful resource?

Ref Kenny's updates, I did notice how he updated some stuff on one of the Facebook groups yet linked his own build back to the MLR (which is great) ~ as the "history" is alot easier to navigate & find, unlike FB.

Facebook for me is only any good for "look at my evo today" type of content, there isn't anything of any real worth. Miss a day & you miss the content.

We all enjoy showing our cars off, and since Photobucket died it's difficult to post pictures on a forum.
With social media you can post a picture in seconds.

I'm not saying that's the main reason, but for me it's too much hassle to put a pic on here so end up using social media instead.
