Some recent updates

Ok so we all know how some jobs on Evo's can get a little out of hand... Oil change becomes full forge, boost leak becomes new turbo, etc.

Not sure how "sell Evo" became "fit cage, do track days" but it did...

First off were some quick engine bay updates, DIY COP conversion (all scrapyard sourced parts bar the plate), AC delete, HKS hard pipes, and some other tidying. The end result looks like it'll do the job.

As part of the AC delete I removed the pipework and blanked the bulkhead holes to prevent dirt ingress should the AC ever be refitted.

Number plate holder cut down and new smaller plate ordered and fitted. Think this looks a lot better, should really have done it ages ago.

Swapped in my OMEX sequential shift lights from my old track car.

Stripped the boot and gave it and the rear seat floor a coat of matt black, along with the cage mounts etc, once I'd welded them in.

Cage fitted like a glove, I've used Safety Devices before and would again the fit is great.

The fitting blocks however... not so much they took plenty of cutting about and I had to add plate to the middle ones to allow a nice weld all round to the body of the car. Not everyone bothers with this but if going to the trouble of fitting a cage I'd rather put the extra time in.

I've kept the carpet and glass, etc as it'll be part road part track, I've gone all out track before and it make things like Spa and the Ring not such a nice prospect.

Std front seats for the moment with some harnesses out my old track car.

Did some other odd's and end's too like fitting new adjustable toe arms due to a cracked std one, cleaned and re sealed the arches and much of the floor, fitted J-Speed flitch braces while I was under the arches. From the diff back will be done once I've moved house and have a garage (9 weeks and counting). I also stripped the metal brackets (rust ) from inside the rear arch extensions on the doors and refitted with sealant rather than trying to save the brackets. Also removed the front spotlights while I had the bumper off removing the AC rad.

I'm sure there was more but I'll update as I go. Geo check and track time soon...

Cheers mate. Yeah that's a bummer, just something about the look of a caged car.

Cheers guys, welding in this heat was a nightmare but worth it.

Needs a good clean and polish. But I'll get to that.

Cheers guys.

Yes pump and mounting plate removed from the block. The belt is a gates from a local motor factor. Ask for a 6pk1438. My tensioner was seized too so check that first as it can make AC delete pretty costly.

Safety Devices direct, unless you are lucky enough to get one second hand. Even then I'd suggest going direct for the mounting kit, their prices are pretty good.

Completely removed the carpet during welding and painting of the mounts then trimmed it a little at a time when I put it back to get a nice fit round the mounts.

Cheers mate.

Went on to sell the car shortly after, kinda wish I'd kept it but never mind.
