ND long rod "drop in" job Evo 4 to 9 - Drive in/Drive Out

As per title we have been offering the conventional length rod (150mm) drop in with ND spec JE forged pistons for some time. We have had 156mm long rod ND spec compatible pistons made using the latest JE forging a while back. Just hadn't put a thread up due to time constraints.

So our MLR offer is for £2999 Inc Vat, you "drive your car in" (So long as the engine is in good running order already) we then strip, measure, hone and fit the below parts, run in the engine and fill with premium grade synthetic oil. Afterwhich you "drive it out" again.

Parts we fit as part of this deal are as below;

ND spec JE forged piston set 85mm bore
Manley H beam 156mm steel forged con rods
ND uprated metal head gasket
ND H11/L19 head stud kit
New cambelt and balance belt
Running in oil and filter
Titan race 15/50 fully synthetic oil and oil filter
Full run in procedure completed prior to pick up also

We can also offer the Manley I Beam rod for those wanting to go close to or over 600Hp. This incurs extra cost of the premium version rod (+£330 + Vat extra). The bottom end would then be rated in excess of 800Hp (Would advise fitting ARP main studs at this stage also).

We need the car for approx 1 working week but some vehicles may be needed for 2 working weeks, dependant on our workload at the time and if other work is requested or not.

Enquiries by PM, email or phone please.

Cheers

Si

If the engine needed a rebore, how much extra would that add?

It's a bit of a game changer that one, costs much more as the engine has to be taken out, fully stripped down, machinined, blueprinted and fully built before being re-fitted. Take a look at the below thread to see the sort of result that yields.

I have a drop in job from Si Norris, (well it was meant to be a rod job but I had a cracked piston, so a set of pistons was fitted) its done 5000 miles and doesn't use a drop of oil. Runs like a sewing machine

Just out of curiosity... what does this give in relation to the performance - other than improved wear and tear?

My IX is currently at 395 / 395 and at some point I would like to get that up to around the 450bhp mark.

Might need to spend a bit more to do that though

In reality this conversion offers little to no extra hp in itself, but it makes the engine stronger and more capable of holding higher hp. If you try to run 450Hp on the stock engine you are likely to snap a rod. Some people get away with it and others don't. We would not be prepared to take that risk.

Once done the engine will be fine for approx 550Hp using H beam con rods and way over that figure over using I beam con rods.

Hope that helps?

Cheers

Si

Thanks for the quick reply Si.

I definately need to do a bit more research reagarding what to do with the engine, i'm not that technically minded.
