So it’s been quite a few months since I updated this thread, unfortunately I had a bit of a nightmare on my 1st track day out at Blyton Park last December, we are not 100% sure what happened but I spun a bearing and we lost the engine Given the work involved to get it to this point I was gutted to say the least! In fairness the engine had performed well over a number of hard seasons with both myself and the previous owner really giving it some hammer on trackdays, sprints and on the hills.

I took the decision to rebuild the engine to a higher standard, hopefully meaning it would be done right and done once. I chatted with Nigel Barker at Fenton Motorsport in Leeds, a good friend of mine who is ideally located only 15 minutes from my house so we discussed spec and we decided with a 2.3 stroker engine with some headwork to complement the Blouch GT30 turbo I already had, with a Norris Design's v4 dry sump kit to ensure no more oil starvation issues.

The build took about 5 months in total to complete including deciding on the spec as well as build and mapping. I was really pleased to be able to tempt Nick Rowntree (previously of NR Autosport) out of retirement and we ‘live’ mapped the car with low and high boost settings on the roads of Lincoln which was a hairy experience to say the least. The last 3 months have involved getting some seat time and getting the geo dialled in which was initially way out resulting in some ‘usual’ handling on my 1st sprint out at Croft. After another day at Oulton and a track day at Blyton I can finally say I am happy with the set-up, it absolutely fly’s.

I have included most of the build spec below and will add some extra posts with pics from the track days in due course, fingers crossed for a good season next year.

It’s never a dull moment with Evo’s

Engine Build Spec
Blouch GT30 Turbo with Race-tech manifold
ND 2.3 Stroker Kit (1000bhp rated)
ND forged steel 100mm crankshaft (fully balanced)
Manley 150mm I beam turbotuff rods
ND spec JE piston (85.5mm) and ring set and a full set of bottom end bearings

Fenton Motorsport/Norris Stage 5 - Headwork
Ported, polished
Modify combustion chambers
Fully de-burred
Skimmed surface
Parts included with head build;
- ND valve spring kit
- Tomei 280 Cams
- ND shim set
- ND Ti retainers
- ND 1mm oversize inlet valves
- New larger inlet valve seats
- ND 2mm oversize inconnel exhaust valves
- ND bronze valve guides
- ND solid lifter camshafts
- ND solid lifter set

Norris Designs V4 - Dry Sump Kit
ND Evo 4-6 Special Dry Sump Special Tank (Offside Inner Wing)
All new oil pump from AUTO VERDI, best oil pump in the market! Used by most current World Rx cars!
New oil pump bracket for the above oil pump, new belt and adjustable oil pump pulley offset
Reverted sump scavenge and filter design back to V1, 2 and 3! V3+ wasn't so easy to service and fit
Pump crank drive sprocket now bolts on via the four crank pulley bolts NOT via main through bolt
Two piece crank drive pulley
More durable Steel Scavenge tubes and fittings
Standardised ½” BSP thread in various areas
Slightly faster pump speed for improved efficiency
High power HTD belt supplied instead of std strength
50% thicker crank baffle plate
Shorted scavenge tube routing
More durable and compact metal scavenge pipework rather than AN fittings and hose
Larger dash 10 turbo oil drain
Various aluminium AN fittings changed to steel to be more durable
25 row oil cooler

Following the rebuild, I decided to add some colour to the car to brighten it up a little and as a bit of a PR exercise for an event we were having at work

Not sure Kins, probably a mix of sprinting and a couple of Time Attack rounds as I still have a credit from this year I never got to use, what about yourself?

Is that safety devices cage a new design? I only remember them having a single door bar... or is this is a custom setup?

you used to be able to spec single bars when new some track stuff was OK with single but now double is the norm
