Hopefully if we get a big enough list we can flag this up the chain to :mitsi: and maybe it will force them also to extend the warranty on the AWC sytem.
I would start us off, but beleive it or not my AYC pump is still fine after nearly 7 years and 60k miles But I know it'll just be a matter of time before mine goes too.
I've been contacted for advice by a lad with a White X sst suffering from ayc pump problems....don't think he's signed up on here yet but will advise him too
yeah good advice, get him to join up, there must be many other X owners who aren't on MLR that have AYC problems thats why the more numbers we have the better chance something could be done about it
I think it would be good to see if black knight knows anything about it and if not then get all the effected member to phone Mitsubishi on mass the same day as that way they can't use their normal excuse of - you are the first person to ever have this problem/we've never heard of this issue before.
Probably a good idea if even the members who have paid for their pump to be replaced/repaired to contact them as it don't look good that in other parts of the world Mitsubishi are basically admitting there is an issue with the pumps location and so it shouldn't mean that UK owners who have had to cough up the cost out of their own pocket should lose out just because theirs have failed before an extended period has been applied.
If all else fails you can all chip in £5 for fuel money and I will drive to UK mitsi headquarters and drag lance Bradley around the car park by his balls until I get the answer we all want
Two repairs by Hockley for me. First in 2012 (22k) when the centre plate and seals were replaced. Second in 2013 (30k) when the pump motor failed. Looking for a hat-trick next year.
Mine went just before I sold it, it was low mileage.
Harry Hockley refurbished it the same day, it was about £400 IIRC so not a big deal. He split it apart and showed me the corrosion on the sandwich plate which seems to be where the problem lies because that's where it oxidises and looses pressure.
Even if Mitsubishi replace the pump it will fail again. I reckon it needs drenching in waxoyl every 3000 miles and there should be some sort of a removable plate to keep the day to day road crap off it.
Mine failed on my X 300SST about 6 months ago at 55k miles.
