I don't understand why you'd buy it? Even the pictures show it's a poor job let alone the whole dip stick being zip tied (granted that can be a simple seal, but unlikely).

This is why I usually take a friend when buying a second hand car, as with the excitement you tend to be less vigilant.

On a plus, at least it's being saved! Now you've bought it, my hat is off to you sir for getting it corrected. Will be good to see the progress

I wonder if the seller even knew how bad it really was. I mean as it looks like in his previous thread he had work carreid out 7 years ago so maybe he just gave it to a garage for a repair and they did just that and he got it back all fixed / treated 7 years ago and didnt know the extent of the corrosion..

is kind of scary that how much rust is actually hiding behind the paint work after the blasting, buyer has no way know the extension of rust by visual inspection. Hat off to the new buyer to resurrect the car otherwise as other said, may not last very long with that chassis

It was a very hard week for me getting it back together in time for when you arrived although i am disappointed that i was unale to get the brakes bled properly so i was unable to take you out for a proper drive and show you just what "Edna" is capable of. When you drive the car i am confident that you will be more than happy with it. I look foward to keeping in contact with you and following the big plans you have for it
Oh man this is too funny... He's not great at keeping in contact obviously..

Best of luck with the resto. Great to see someone saving another VI.

Not been on in a while and just read that thread and totally shocked by the seller! But looking at the pictures he posted of the state of his work (if you can call it that) you must of been mental to pay him £5k let alone £14k. Still complete prick and needs a slap for lying in his post from the start.

eddie: it was lesson learned (and paid). Now I would buy only car with underside not painted and probably only fresh japan import. Honestly, I was expecting to find some rust under that but not this.

But all this is antient history now. Update meant to be as warning for others. s
Someone might learn from my mistake and also be aware of this **** seller.
