Road tyres - all weather - Evo 6 ???

My car is used all year round and is a road car above all else.

Today I noticed some cracks on my current tyres (inside and along the tread recesses), so I'm about to pull the trigger on a new set of Michelin PS4 (94 Y XL), but just wondered what else is recommended out there.

If I didn't use the car in winter I'd go for AD08, but that isn't really an option for me just now, so all season road tyres it has to be, and something that will be at least a bit "sporty" and handle being thrown about a bit.

I'd be grateful for any thoughts, suggestions, reviews or recommendations.

Yours Aye

Mark H

Get the PS4s. I've driven evos all year round for a decades on "Summer tyres". It's fine.

PS4 are good and durable. I’ve also used Goodyear’s F1 assymetrics and bridgestones re050, good for ‘dry’ uk weather. Slight boatie feeling but good grip and good amount of thread

Thanks. Me too, have driven Evos as daily drivers, all year round on a normal tyres.
(I did mention the words "all season", but wasn't strictly referring to the tyre industry definition.)

As Evo drivers, we all know that there's a big difference with "summer" tyres (industry definition = designed for temps above 7°C) and what us Evo drivers would tend to class as sporty tyres for dry summer use only, like the AD08 (which Yokohama class as "dry" weather tyres), which are a great choice optimised for summer use, but for me would be a bit of a liability in the winter.
Bear in mind that my Evo 6 is a third car and is primarily a "winter car". If I was going to use a AD08s in winter, and not play to the Evo strengths of handling poor weather on a normal tyres so well, my choice of winter car would be a wee bit stoopid and may as well just be using my M3! Something like the PS4, or Eagle F1, or SportContact5 would be more than acceptable for daily use during our short, passing winters with no real issues (all classed as "summer", but also "wet" weather tyres). Whereas AD08 and similar other tyres would be a poor choice.

Maybe I should've said that more explicitly in the OP?

I'm definitely drawn to the PS4 for some reason despite having favoured Good Year F1 Assy for a long time with previous Evos, while Continental SportContact 5 also have a good following.

I'm also incredibly pleased at the prices for 225/45R17 tyres and don't recall ever buying tyres cheaper any time in the last 15 to 20 years of motoring!

All the best

Mark H

PS4's are pretty awesome tyres, wet and dry, and to be honest if you're driving it all weather then it's decent wet grip you want.

If that's the case I might be more tempted to research something that will perform better in cold\wet scenarios.

Uniroyal Rainsports or PS4s will fit your bill.

Had the PS4s fitted today.

Blackcircles.

£40 off 4 Michelins in their website, so 4 225/45R17s worked out at £320 fitted. Never bought 4 tyres so cheap. Ever.

I'll post pictures later of the cracked Yokohamas
