Arrow HID's and MOT's

Hi All,

I need someone to help clarify whats whats with Factory Fitted HID's and MOT tests.

My 8 has Factory Fitted HID's but was failed because of them, sad times

I have tried to find the testing rules but can only find hear say an opinion.
  • most say if no self leveling or washers fitted = Fail
  • others say its only if self leveling and washers they are fitted then they have to work.
  • To add to the mix the above only apply if you have the H7R (reflector type) headlamp and not the H7 in a projector (ala Evo 8).

So confused does anyone know the score here?

Factory fits before the new rules came into force are a pass. The new rules are not retrospective.
Unless you're in Ireland (not sure which part) where they still insist on having washers fitted cause the stupid idiots refused to amend the written rules when they had to be amended to not discriminate against previous factory fits.
I believe the new rules also allow in some cases for cars with stiff sports suspension to not have adjustment. All kits now need washers I think.
Anyway in England your car is a pass with factory fits.
