Just can't seem to get this annoying problem sorted!!!! Had the car looked at four times now... The last time by mitsi in Biggleswade, who thought they had found the cause. They told me that my osf lower arm and front anti roll bar drop links needed replacing and it was this which was causing the knocking noise when turning right and on bumpy roads.
So back i went to steve hill ms to have these bits replaced as they could do it quite abit cheaper than mitsi!!
£370 later.... and the knocking is still there!!
Mitsi was so sure that this was the cause of my problem and steve hill have not been able to pin point it... So now i realy don't know where to go with this!!
Know a couple of guys on here have had the same problem.. Anyone have any ideas what it could be??
As far as i know... They have checked shocks, ARBs, bushes and something to do with the steering rack i think. This was before they thought they had found the problem with the lower arm and the drop links.
Yes... they did mention cv joints actually. Said all looks fine! Don't recall them saying anything about driveshafts tho! As you can prob tell i'm no mechanic!!
Just trying to get a list of possibilities to throw at steve hill ms next time i am up there!
Did they check the topmounts on the suspension? Mine was doing it on slow right turns on uneven ground.
I just changed the standard shocks to coilovers with Tein topmounts and on checking the standard ones there was lots of play :blah:
The noise has gone now the new topmounts are in too, just to confirm it was those causing the noise.
This is the exact problem I have its going into TRL to get the shocks changed... Matt if your reading this, could you have a look at my Top Mounts when the cars in having the shocks done??
Ive got some spring compressors and a trolley jack, gonna do my front top mounts before I do the shocks. Should be easy enough, remove two bolt from strutt bottom, andd the top spring compressors, change the top mount do in reverse and hey presto, and check the geometry of the bottom bolt to make sure I dont screw up the camber...
