Air conditioning not quite right !

Car is a 2011 Ralliart Sportback.
Up to March this year the aircon was fine, nice and cold if required to be so then I realised it was only 'cool' not 'cold'. As lockdown had started options were limited but Kwikfit were open and they regassed it. It was cold again.
But as the weeks passed it has lost this efficiency and at the last service a couple of weeks back the garage actually asked if it was working ?
They have drained the system and refilled with new gas and a dose of dye to see if there is a leak in the system.
Today (warm afternoon) it was used again but only cool yet on the return journey (still a warm day) it blew out nice cold air !
I am confused as to why it would sometimes only blow cool yet at others blow cold. I have yet to return to the garage for them to look for dye traces and leak(s) but will be there after next week when we return from a few days away and the aircon will have been well used.
Any ideas as to the cause of the variation ?
Cheers
Brian.

Could be an intermittent fault with the pressure sensor causing the compressor not to run (or not run all the time) as it thinks the gas is low. I believe this condition is supposed to cause the A/C light on the console to flash, however in my case the A/C system was empty and the light stayed on as normal so it clearly doesn't work as intended.

I wonder if there was actually any gas missing when Kwikfit regassed it for you - they should have been able to tell you, however from prior experience with my Celica where they regassed it, told me the A/C was working fine only for me to push the A/C button and hear my auxiliary belt dragging over a seized compressor they probably weren't likely to provide any useful info.

Thanks for that info, I'll mention it when I get the car looked at to see if there is a leak. The aircon light functions as normal at the moment.
We are going away for three days so I will see how the aircon works in this hot weather !! Fingers crossed

An update.
Three days in the New Forest this past week and aircon had to work full time which it did. ( Wonderful weather). Did not set to recirc and it was nice and cold and still is.
If there is a leak then it is very tiny so I'll see what happens over the next few weeks.
Cheers
Brian.
