My VIII RS Progress Thread

So, finally all finalised, just put the deposit down and signed the required paperwork!

Completely standard, 2003 VIII RS, 33k miles and its lovely. Neil walked around the car with me and we circled all the small problems to get resprayed, I also chose to get the wing mirrors colour coded at the same time rather than have them resprayed gloss black as its something i'll get done anyway. Inside however is immaculate! No wear on the bolsters or anything!

First thing I want to do is seats, as the RS ones are a bit...rubbish, and then either Brembo conversion or something a bit bigger. Then of from there!

It has some luxuries, air con, electric windows, cd changer in the boot...thats about it! Oh and it has a carbon fibre rear wing!

Here are some pictures, pick it up hopefully in a couple of weeks when its painted, registered, serviced, wax oiled, mph conversion, dyno'd and anything else i have missed! Oh, and for the week after i pick it up it's booked in for a full detail and paintwork correction then finish of with G-Techniq C1

Outside:

Close up of repair bits:

Underneath (No wax oil):

Standard Interior:

Standard Brakes:

Empty Boot(Literally!):

Standard Engine:

Leave it as it is in terms of colour. Just underseal it and get new interior. I think Ross sport is selling complete interior from an FQ if you're after those seats

Lovely car

never paint RS Mirrors!

if you are upgrading the brakes i've got a front and rear set of Alcons being removed this week - 365mm front and 330mm Rears done very little miles (less than 1000)

I will be upgrading the brakes but not sure when due to money! If I sell my focus privately then asap otherwise might have to wait a bit!

My mate was thinking of buying that!
We were looking at it last Sunday but they were closed
There is an MR RS there too. But the one you bought looked the better car
Why don't you just change the front seats
Keep the car as original as poss
Where you from kent? I will keep an eye out for it!

Really?? I looked in the week, then decided like Thursday and went down yesterday and sorted the p/wk!

Yeah i know it was an MR but was quite a bit more money and didn't look to be in as good condition, did he drive it at all? The steering rack is so quick and gear changes are really short!

I'm in Maidstone

And yeah, first things to do are front seats and brakes, i'm not sure where i'll keep the seats when i take them out though, I don't want to sell them as the condition of them is spot on and when i sell in the future it will be put back to standard.

I went down to look at the Yellow GSR and get an idea of what importing was like, i didn't expect to walk out wanting the 8RS lol

Would Brembo's be up to the job or should i go straight for something like Alcons? I only want to up the power (over time) to 400/400 so nothing crazy.

Wheels will be changed eventually. I want something with a bit of concave! Maybe Rota Grids or something similar
