tyres rubbing

Hi Guys

just got some new wheels for my evo 8. I got 18 x 9 rota force drifts in et27. The car is lowered on eibach springs. I put on 245 40 tyres and they rub so badly that the car is undrivable, over any small bumps it rubs like crazy. I have ordered 235 40 instead. Will this resolve my issues or will it probably still rub?
thanks

I had the same size wheels on an Evo 9 with Tein springs on standard bilsteins,I fitted 235/40/18 tyres and had no rubbing issues. With a 9 inch wide rim some 235/40/18 tyres look stretched, not a look I like so after sampling several tyres I eventually fitted Goodyear F1's with rim protection. This cured the stretched look because of the thicker sidewall and most importantly didn't rub.

Ok thanks, I spoke to driftworks who supplied the wheels. They suggested using 225 tyres, surely that would be far to much of a stretch

225/40/18 won't rub but they are going to look very stretched.

A 225 profile tyre is less contact area than you would have with the oem wheels and tyres - why compromise on a performance car.

Get wheels with the correct offset and you can run 255's without a problem.
