My Evolution VII Thread!

Starting a build thread where I will update everything to do with my car, including the car itself, track days/shows and any parts I buy!

This is a thread I started back when I won the car etc so there are quite a few pictures of the car already here, instead of filling this thread up with the same old pictures! https://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=513741

I'm adding a to do list to this thread in this initial post, so people can see what is coming up, and I will be ticking items off once they are done, also if someone has opinions on something I plan on doing feedback is more than welcome!

To Do List;

•Fix/Replace NACA duct
•Spray grills & mesh
•Spray intercooler (logo or completely black)
•Replace broken spoiler end cap - DONE
•Varis front splitter
•Remove orange from headlights
•Replace/Retrim steering wheel
•New suspension (Ohlins?)
•Performance panel filter - DONE
•'Airbox Mod' - DONE
•Guages (Triple Pillar Pod maybe?) - DONE
•Bumper exhaust shield (fix angle too)
•Warlboro 255 fuel pump - DONE
•Silicone hose everything (and T clamps)
•Braided brake lines (HEL)
•3 port solenoid - DONE
•Refurbish rocker cover
•Replacement/Carbon Spark Plug Cover - DONE
•Upgrade the sound system!
•RalliArt Style Mudflaps - DONE

To start, just before I flew off to Norway for some snowboarding before Christmas, I received this picture when the company got it back to HQ!

Some gifts I got for Christmas ( the bushings were from myself, to myself )

Then after a long painful 4 weeks, I got to go view the car, as work tied in with me been close to it ( driving 8 hours in my off time isn't justifiable until I actually fully collect the car )

(Didn't know it had RAYS Aluminium wheel nuts on, and yes the calipers are in definite need of a refurb)
( The chrome window tint, which I was 50/50 on, now I love it in person It is great, and you can see my beautiful Oakleys! )
( A nice TME parked up next to my Evo )

That wraps up my visit to the import company to view my Evo in person for the first time!

Later on that day, I met up with someone to purchase some original Evo 7 GSR Wheels which he took off of a Civic Type R he had bought!

( Had some time the next day while waiting for a delivery, so I sorted out the back of the van, took the centre caps out and ratchet strapped them down, looking like a real race van there! )

Then arrived home tonight to my MLR registration package on the table

Thanks for checking this thread out, I will be updating as often as possible, with everything I do and plan on doing to the Evo

Anything Jap is amazing, I'm a Datsun/Nissan man born and raised, but I like to venture into the darkside of the force ( )

What a day picking that up huh? I sold a car and am looking for a replacement, taking longer than expected to come to a decision but I bet the day you get it makes it worthwhile.

That photo strengthens my feeling about the evo vs dc5 lines.....dc5 is such a nice looking car, sleek, sharp, low roof line, rear window quarter line.......evo looks a bit tall and ugly.... (cue the abuse)

The vii is a much sharper looking car too imo, less fussy, more purposeful.

Anyway......enjoy.

I can't wait Yeah, I personally don't like the DC5, it never appealed to me as it was to big and clumsy compared to all the other Integras

Thanks man, I definitely will and hopefully you'll be able to decide on a new car soon

So to start the refurb of the wheels I needed to take the rubber off them first, 2 of the tyres were shot, about 1mm of tread left, but the other 2 have around 7mm left on them, and they are both Dunlops so not a cheap rep brand!

The pattern is similar to the Toyo T1R tyres!

BEFORE

AFTER

Stacked them in the chiller room, and managed to find an old spirit level which fit perfectly through the centre!

So that wraps up todays work pretty much, I wanted to get all the dirt off of them, and see the condition, I will definitely be stripping them back to raw metal, then respraying them a nice dark grey colour! They are in a lot better condition than what I thought they would be so I am extremely happy!

Thanks Yeah I think it will compliment the red very well! I have imported it with Torque GT, they have been amazing, can't fault the service at all and work everything around what is suitable to me

So a bit off topic from the Evo, I bought a new car/run around today for my parents (mum), I thought it was about time she had a bit of an upgrade as she never treats herself, especially on cars, and it will be spot on for nipping to the shops, or going to Newcastle shopping for the day!

I know these are hated in the UK car community, but they are actually okay cars, especially if you want something comfortable and smooth for not too much money! Also helps keep the Merc clean!

I am now ready to embrace the hate!

Grats on the purchase. The VII really looks good in red. May I ask what you used to clean the inside of the wheels?

Thank you Yeah I love it, I may have to get a skin put on it, or get it professionally clear coated I used this (http://www.armorall.eu/uk/products/i.../wheel-cleaner) as it was the only thing in stock near me, but a stiff bristle brush, with any general cleaner worked well! TFR could work well too?
