Historic wrc machinery added to rallyday 2019 line up

This year’s Rallyday will deliver unparalleled levels of World Rally Championship [WRC] history, with cars coming from around the world to Castle Combe Circuit on September 21.

Ian Gwynne’s BGMSport firm will bring 21 cars belonging to various customers, with Rally Replay ensuring more genuine Italian WRC heritage than ever before. One of the highlights of the event will be a display of Ford machinery from through the generations, starting with an ex-Roger Clark Lotus Ford Cortina and ending with an ex-Colin McRae Ford Focus RS (WRC01).

Gwynne commented on the news: “This is the biggest display of cars we’ve ever put on; it’s going to be something very special to be at Rallyday this year. We’re very fortunate that customers of ours, people like Steve Rimmer Girardo and co, as well as Chris Wilson, are really keen that their cars are seen and driven. Steve’s got some amazing cars and it’s a privilege for us to bring them along.”

The Ford display will progress from the Mk1 Cortina to another Roger Clark car: the Mk1 Escort, through to one of only five RS1700 Ts in existence, an RS200, a rare Group A Escort RS Turbo and the McRae Focus.

“Colin’s Focus from 2001 and 2002 isn’t the only Ford we’ll have there with the McRae name on,” said Gwynne. “It’s 30 years since Jimmy McRae won the Autoglass Tour of Britain and we’ll have his three-door Sierra RS Cosworth as it finished that event in 1989. It’s really exciting to be part of Rallyday this year, the cars there will be something very special.”

The focus isn’t just on Ford, though: Subaru’s well represented too, with Richard Burns’ Rally GB-winning car and the ‘WRC97’ Impreza McRae used to win the 1997 Safari Rally.

One of Petter Solberg’s favourite rally cars, the Impreza WRC2004 he used to win the 2005 Rally Sweden will be running on the day.

Rally Replay’s stunning collection includes a trio of Delta Integrales, an S4 and a Fiat 131 Abarth.

No idea ask Castle Combe about track sessions, they are timed usually, so depends how quick you drive bud.

Well can't make the decision for you BUT you have until 30th Aug at 1700 which is the cut off, the more the merrier. Best thing for the MLR at Combe all year to be honest

No idea at the moment Den, we won't get allocated a spot until all tickets have been sold. We have approx 25 cars at the moment so will be a large space I hope
