Sorry to hear of all the problems you've had with your first Evo but atleast one of the best in the business has now put it right...

Please tell me Wynford didn't charge you the premium price tag a MR FQ-360 commands?

OP, not that I want to pile on more misery but, as per the post above, are you aware that's not a IX MR? Did you mean FQ360 in your first post? Still a nice car, though wouldn't want you misled into buying something it's not.

Hi,

Could you elaborate on why it's not an MR?

I just checked the V5 again...

Thanks,

Didnít make the MR in black is one reason.

Irrespective of the engine troubles, I definitely overpaid for the car, probably £2-3k too much but at the time, and after 6 months of searching, it was hard to come by an example that had zero rust and was as clean as this one.

All the examples that were £3k- 5k cheaper either had rust or weren't as well looked after, obviously at the time I wasn't to foresee the leaks in compression and paying over the odds didn't seem so bad.

Also another big selling point for me for the full race spec Ex-Tec suspension that I've not seen any other Evo running, the handling just blew all the others out the park, the thing is on rails!

I suppose the money I got back from Wynford towards the rebuild was probably the money I overpaid - oh well f**k it, sh*t happens, you win some you lose some!

I'm not too sure then, any ideas why the V5 says otherwise?
Cheers,

Cheers,
As above they didn't make them in black, it doesn't say IX MR on the gearstick plaque, the mirror adjustment switch should be below the vent, no red stitching around the door cards/seats, no chrome door handles.
To be honest if you're modifying it to what you are then most of the MR extras will be changed anyway. Looks like the seats and the suspension have already been changed. It would be more about paying a premium for something it's not, but as you say, the money towards the rebuild may help balance things out somewhat.
Strange about the V5. Can only guess someone specified it incorrectly as an MR when changing the log book over and DVLA have gone with it. A lot of the V5's are wrong when it comes to model. Mine just says lancer. All the 8 fq400's were registered as fq320 for example then given a letter confirming the change to a 400. Nearly all the evos came from Japan as standard Japanese GSR variants and didn't become the fq models until they were already in Britain hence the V5 model often being generic lancer or fq etc.

I would definitely agree with Mita on this one all the way!

Also, doing everything under one roof is a sensible thing to do, because if you take it elsewhere to have it mapped and it goes pop, I can guarantee you'll loose any warranty with Mark.

by the way, reading from the first post you've said its an MR, MR never came in black

100%!
They are absolutely useless.
The amount of things that Mark has had to change , on my car, due to their gross incompetence is staggering.
Nearly everything they have had a hand in has had to be changed.
Give them a seriously wide berth.

Chris

It's horrible when things like this happen to decent hard working people. It does however look like it may not be an MR but what a gorgeous evo it is. All the engine issues have been sorted. Get out there in this glorious weather and take the beast for a blast. That is one nice, sorted evo you now have. Now show it off
