Isn't there a view that using socks can actually trap moisture inside the sock and cause more damage that way than if left exposed to the elements. Although maybe some of the more expensive socks might be made from a breathable material?
All I can go on is my own experience and I’ve had my Ohlins fitted on my 9 for about 5 years with Paul’s coilover socks fitted and GT85.
They’ve had a few touch ups with GT85 over these years when the cars been serviced but when I look at them now they still look brand new! Also no issues with the coilovers themselves either.
It could because my car is stored in a well insulated garage and only been driven on mice sunny days...
I also have the same system on my 6RS and again the coilovers look sparkling new still and no knocks etc.
So I’m happy with them fitted anyway...:smthumbup
