rear fog light

On my 8 Mr I have 9 bumpers ( import ) and it seems there is no fog, I have found 2 wires that I'm hoping are what used to be for the fog light in the standard bumper, anyway I have an idea, I'm thinking of a round led pace car style fog light in the centre tow eye cover, has anybody done anything similar?

Or is it just easier to use a red bulb in the reverse light?

I went the red bulb in the reverse light method.

Much cleaner look to the rear end.

Is it easy enough to do the wiring/connector?

Yeah, cut and make safe the existing wiring to the offside reverse light. Bring the aftermarket foglight wiring [extend if needed] into the boot and up to the existing loom. Connect the foglight wires to the wires going to the reverse light [doesn't matter which way round unless you've got LED ones. Make the joints safe and that's it.

It's usually a 21w bulb.

Hey mate, seems like you're the pro of this mod... but what do you mean when you say it matters which way around you connect the wires when using an LED bulb?

From my understanding, all we're doing is taking cutting the power feed on the reverse light, securing that end, then cutting the power light from the original fog light and extending it up to the cut power wire of the reverse lamp.

Since it's only one wire, what do you need to do differently if fitting a red LED bulb in the reverse light which will become the new fog light?

Thanks

You'll have two wires coming from the foglight housing.

1 live (red)
1 earth ?

So only the live red needs cut and taken to the brown at the reverse light?

No, the live and earth need to go to the lamp.
