Brake light switch wire

I'm trying to repair the brake light switch wire on a 4.
As you can see the red wire has been cut at one end is just flapping around.

Usually I'd just find the other end and solder it back together, but I can't figure out where the other end is or where this wire is supposed to go??

Should it follow the green wire that also goes to the brake light switch, thats in the black sheath? Do I need to trace that and find where it goes to?

The plain red wires are not original, best to follow the OEM wiring

I had a look at the diagram the other day but got a touch confused.

Looking again there's only one wire for the brake light switch? (there is a green wire also connected to the switch, within that black plastic sheath)

I cant help much but basics are there should be a wire in and a wire out of switch which when you brake are joined inside switch, as G says that is not very oem looking so somebody has been bodging! first thing is there another wire in that oem shrouding around your green wire onto switch as they would normally run to switch together?

Also test switch with a multi meter to make it sure its open circuit when off brake pedal and closes when you press it, i wonder if switch is stuck closed and somebody has cut wiring so brake lights are on permanently.

Im guessing there has been a supply or fuse box issue so they have wired switch direct to another 12v feed with that red wire, why its been pulled off who knows but maybe as above switch is faulty or there are other issues on wiring causing it to blow fuses and things.

Good luck!
