Has anyone felt the impact of the virus financially yet?

Not yet. I work as a maintenance engineer for a pharma packing company. From what i've heard we are still going and no intentions of shutting unless we absolutely need to. We just have a few systems in place to try and reduce the chances of this virus from getting around. So far this week its been going good.

We (JCB) lost overtime about 5 weeks ago because of supplier issues in China. Not as terrible as some others but it was about a grand a month extra before tax this time last year. Currently been sent home on full pay "until told to come back". Not a great feeling but there will be some DIY getting done at least. B&Q was rammed this morning

over here restaurants are closed down and people are being laid off on a regular bassis. Small businesses don't have much reserves and will shut down if this lasts more than 2 months.. Looks grim...

Because people can't be sensible and implement social distancing themselves, the government has had to step in and enforce it by shutting down restaurants, cafes, pubs etc. Thing is, I was at the supermarket today and the supermarket has become the pub...lots of groups of people standing around chatting about the weather, where Margret is going on holiday and how there is no toilet paper. People just don't get it. We're all doomed.

Also gutted the gyms are closed too, I was going to sign up to one as I had to knock an old man out to get the last punnet of strawberries.

Covid-19 is also having a devastating impact on the construction industry. I drove 400 miles on Friday, of which maybe 150 were through roadworks and it was shocking....not a single person out, not a spade being plunged nor pickaxe being swung. There was no "work" going on at all, simply mile after mile of cones by the side of the road and constant reminders that Big Brother is making sure we don't go over 50.

I hope you make it through the other end Tracker ,one of my suppliers is in a dire situation .He said he rang the bank same as a lot of us have and we are all told the same thing ,sorry your not approved etc etc.Businesses need the cash now not in two weeks time or businesses employing a lot of people will not be there when the virus lifts. He was even on about just winding the firm up instead of worrying about it anymore and he employs 14 staff. Then theres two fresh veg and catering supplies firms employing 200 staff between them ,I heard loads of orders were being cancelled due to the pub shut down etc. This is the start of a big recession by the looks of it ,very grim times ahead.

It won't affect me till there is a total government lockdown and I don't think it will be too long before that happens?

Too many ****wits for it not to happen.

I went to work this morning (4:30am) and the number of people wandering home drunk was no different to any normal weekend.

We just had an announcement of total lockdown in Greece and we've already taken all the measures way in advance from any other European country. We closed down schools and playgrounds when we had 80 confirmed cases, two weeks ago.

Stay home until your government announces lockdown.
